395 candidates receive Central Government appointment orders at Rozgar Mela in Mumbai

The Government of India has begun a massive recruitment drive in order to induct 10 lakh people into the Indian civil services. The Rozgar Mela has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, beginning with the induction of 75,000 recruits into various Ministries and Departments of Government of India. The recruitment drive follows a human resources review by the Prime Minister, after which he announced on 14th June, 2022 that recruitment of 10 lakh people is to be done by the Government in mission mode within the next one year. These recruitments are being done in mission mode by ministries and departments either by themselves or through recruiting agencies such as upsc, SSC and Railway Recruitment Board. Selection processes have been simplified and made tech-enabled for expeditious recruitment.

The Prime Minister launched the Rozgar Mela at a national level event via video conferencing, and addressed the appointees who joined the programme from fifty locations in the country. The Prime Minister said that keeping in mind the 75 years of independence, the central government is giving appointment letters to 75,000 youngsters under a programme. “We decided that a tradition of giving appointment letters in one go should be started so that a collective temperament of completing projects in a time-bound way develops in departments”, he said explaining the rationale of the Rozgar Mela. Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles Piyush Goyal joined the programme in Mumbai. A total of 395 candidates received appointment orders in the event held at Mumbai. The Union Minister ceremonially handed over appointment orders to thirty new recruits. The new recruits  have received appointments variously in Department of Posts, Western Railway, Central Railway, Coast Guard, Armed Forces Medical College, Indian Navy, CISF, RCF, Mazgaon Docks Ltd., Income Tax, CBIC, ESIC, Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Maharashtra Bank, Vidarbha Konkan Grameen Bank, Canara Bank, NBCC and Seamen‘s Provident Fund Organization Mumbai, IIT Bombay, NIFT and BSF.

Addressing the newly-appointees of the Central Government, Union Minister Piyush Goyal urged them to work with a spirit of service and responsibility. Think of what expectations you had before you entered government service. We normally expect from government offices that they are run properly, good service is being given to citizens and also that cleanliness is maintained in the office. Stating these, Piyush Goyal asked to work towards fulfilling these expectations of citizens. He expressed confidence about the new-recruits, who came through a transparent process, of working with a mindset of public service. He said that their skills will keep uploading as they go along working.

 

The Union Minister also urged the new appointees to think about what new things they can bring to their job. He asked them to think like a semi-outsider to understand their responsibilities better and improvising upon it. He also advised them to explore how technology can be utilized to bring in more transparency in the works of the government departments. The Union Minister invited for new ideas and suggestions from the new recruits for improvizing processes. He exhorted all government servants to move forward with the spirit of fulfilling the dream of a developed India for 135 crore people of the country.

Stating that PM Narendra Modi has exhorted everyone to work for making a India developed India by 2047, Union Minister Piyush Goyal asked the new recruits to think over how to gift a better future for every citizen“. He said that building a developed India would require participation of every citizen. All of us need to contribute to the making of a developed nation, he added.

The Minister also said that we need to shed our colonial mindset of maintaining old files. If all of us resolve that we will digitize our work and put an end to the colonial mindset, just imagine how big a contribution it will be to take the nation forward. Speaking about digitization in the works of government departments, the Union Minister said, e-files are being made in many government departments. Also, digitization has aided in arresting leakages in DBT processes through JAM Trinity, whereby benefits are transferred directly to the bank accounts of people. The dashboards of these are also put in public domain on the website, he added.

The Union Minister further stated that PM has also exhorted us to go back to our roots. There is a lot to learn from our traditions, he added. He also said that unity and integrity of the nation should be always remembered.

He said that until 135 crore people adopt an attitude of responsibility to work for the nation‘s development, the output of the work will not improve. Once we add a sense of duty, the work will become better and will be in the interest of the people, he added. We need to work towards a corruption-free India, he further said.

Along with the new appointees and representatives of various Central Ministries and Departments, Government of Maharashtra Minister of Tourism, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Women & Child Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Member of Parliament Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha Constituency Poonam Mahajan, Chief Post Master General of Maharashtra Veena Srinivas were also present.
