736 Dams Proposed For Physical Rehabilitation Under DRIP (Phase II and III)

The State/Agency wise list of 736 number of dams proposed for physical rehabilitation under Dam Rehabilitation and Improvement Project (DRIP), Phase II and Phase III is given at Annexure-I.

The Union Government has approved the DRIP, Phase-II & III Scheme at a total cost of Rs.10,211 Crore [Rs. 5107 Crore for Phase II and Rs 5104 Crore for Phase III]. This provision is for 19 States and 3 Central Agencies, and the funds will be spent over the period of 10 years (2021-2031). The State/ Agency wise budget outlay under the Scheme is given at Annexure-II.

 As per the available information, there are 145 dams out of 736 dams proposed in DRIP Phase II & III, which are more than 60 years old.

West Bengal is included under DRIP Phase II Scheme. State of West Bengal is one of the nineteen partner States in the DRIP Phase-II & III Scheme.

 Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC) is one of the three partner central agencies in the DRIP Phase-II & III Scheme. Five dams of DVC have been included for rehabilitation under the Scheme at a budget outlay of Rs 144.7 Crore. The allocation for Phase II & Phase III is Rs 44 Crore & Rs 100 Crore respectively.
