76th Annual Conference Of Bombay Medical Congress Conducted At INHS Asvini

The 76th annual conference of the Bombay Medical Congress was conducted last week (on 26 and 27 March 2022) at INHS Asvini, Mumbai in an online mode.

The conference started with a brief Inauguration Ceremony, attended by Vice Admiral Ajendra Bahadur Singh, PVSM, AVSM, VSM, ADC, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Naval Command, Surg VAdm Rajat Datta, AVSM, SM, VSM, PHS, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services and other senior service officers and civilian dignitaries.

Prominent national and international professionals delivered talks during the conference. The Western Naval Command oration was delivered by Surg VAdm Naveen Chawla, AVSM, VSM, PHS, Director General Medical Services (Navy), on “Healthcare Reimagined: Is the Future Already Here?”, in a session chaired by VAdm K Swaminathan, AVSM, VSM, Chief of Staff, Western Naval Command.

The Cameron Pinto oration by Dr. Soumya Swaminathan on “Are we better prepared for another pandemic?” and the coveted Menda-Salaskar oration by Shri Chetan Bhagat on “Healing by Words” are some of the other highlights of the conference. In addition, talks were delivered by eminent medical professionals like Dr. Zarir Udwadia and Dr. Priya Abraham.

The conference also saw the release of the 24th edition of the ‘Journal of the Marine Medical Society’, online free paper and e-poster competitions for post-graduate students, a debate on contemporary medical issues and an intercollegiate undergraduate symposium.

The conference was attended by several doctors from the armed forces and the civilian fraternity including senior faculty members, residents, interns and medical officers.
