The inaugural ceremony of the 37th All India Postal Weight Lifting, Power Lifting & Best Physique Tournament Maharashtra Postal Circle was successfully organised on Tuesday, 30th January 2024, at Shri Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex.
Maj General M. K. Khan, Additional Director General, Army Postal Service, Shri. Satishkumar, DGM, State Bank of India; Shri. Kiran Bhagat, Maharashtra Kesari, Runnerup, Shri Ramchandra Jayabhaye, Postmaster General Pune Region; Shri Pradeep Jambhale Patil, and other dignitaries were present.
Major General Shri M.K. Khan, Satish Kumar and Shri Pradeep Jambhale Patil expressed their happiness over the Postal Department for organizing this Tournament in such a grand and in an excellent manner. Maharashtra Kesari, Runner up Shri Kiran Bhagat boosted all the participants by saying “Keep your spirit and focus on the game.” Further he explained that it is not important to win or lose, but what is important is the quality of the game.
The tournament, featuring 152 competitors across the country from 16 Postal Circles are participating in the event. The accomplishments of the Weight Lifting Tournament on 30/01/2024 are as follows:
Men- 55 KG weight group
1. Pradip Kumar Sahoo, Orissa Circle-1st Position
2. Rakesh Kumar, Uttar Pradesh Circle- 2nd Position
3. N Laxman Naik -Telangana Circle- 3rd Position
Men- 61 KG weight group
1. Suman Das, West Bengal Circle – 1st Position
2. K Gowri Babu, Andhra Pradesh Circle – 2nd Position
3. Arun A K, Kerala Circle – 3rd Position
Men- 67 KG weight group
1. Y Shiva Kumar, Telangana Circle-1st Position
2. Mihir Soni, Rajasthan Circle- 2nd Position
3. M.Yellaiah – Andhra Pradesh Circle- 3rd Position
Men- 73 KG weight group
1. Abhishek Patil, Maharashtra Circle-1st Position
