Inauguration of Orientation Programme “Uttarayan II-2024” for newly promoted ACsIT

The inauguration of the Orientation Programme “Uttarayan II- 2024”, a seven week long training for the newly promoted ACsIT was held at National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur on 11th September 2024.  Prof. Shrikrishna Deva Rao, Vice Chancellor, NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad was the Chief Guest for the occasion. 116 newly promoted Assistant Commissioners of Income Tax are currently undergoing training at NADT.

Shri Anand Baiwar, Director General, NADT, welcomed the Chief Guest. He congratulated all the participants of Uttarayan II- 2024 on their well-deserved promotion. He stated that Uttarayan for newly promoted Group “A” IRS officers is one of the most important training programmes conducted by NADT. He stated that the curriculum and structure of the Orientation Programme have been planned with a view to enhancing the domain knowledge and functional skills of the trainees, while reinforcing the required behavioural skills, thereby following a competency driven approach for capacity development as mandated by Mission Karmayogi.

The Course Director of Orientation Programme, Uttarayan II-2024 presented the batch profile. The batch comprises of 116 officers including 20 lady officers. It represents 18 States and 2 Union territories. The largest contingent of trainees is from Bihar. The batch comprises 87 graduates, 26 post-graduates and 2 with MBAs. The average work experience of the batch is 28 years.

 

The Chief Guest, Prof. Shrikrishna Deva Rao reminded the Officer trainees that their decisions impact not only the revenue of the country but also the lives of countless individuals and business enterprises. He emphasized on the importance of following the principles of natural justice in discharging the responsibilities as a tax administrator. He emphasized on the importance of learning new technology and also on the need for practising alternate dispute resolution mechanism in solving the grievances.
