Senior Doctor Randeep Guleria has been appointed the director of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS).
He currently holds the post of professor and Head, Department of Pulmonary Medicine and Sleep Disorders, at the institute.
He will now hold the position of the AIIMS director for five years or till attaining the age of 65 years or until further orders.
Dr. Guleria is an alumnus of the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research in Chandigarh.
He has been the physician of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee since 1998. The physician was also honoured with the Padma Shri in 2015.
