Archeological Survey of India, in association with the South Central Zone Cultural Center to observe Yoga Day at Nagpur’s heritage monumental premise


The Nagpur Circle, Archaeological Survey of India in association with South Central Zone Cultural Center, Nagpur, is going to celebrate the 7th International Day of Yoga tomorrow (21st June 2021) at Old High court building, Nagpur. The aim of celebrating the Yoga Day in a monumental premise is to create awareness among the people of our rich cultural heritage. The Old High Court building forms part of an important administrative and judicial complex during the British rule and was constructed between 1891 and 1893 AD when Sir P. MacDonnell, (Companion of the Star of India,C.S.I.), was the Commissioner. The Old High Court Building, which was declared a Centrally Protected Monument in 2018. It exhibits an excellent example of the colonial Anglo-Indian architecture interspersed with elements of vernacular architecture. 

The performance of yoga will start at 07:00 AM tomorrow. The event will be graced by the participation of Union Minister of Road, transport & Highways and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, Shri Nitin Gadkari and MLA of Nagpur (West) constituency, Shri. Vikas Thakare. On the occasion of Yoga Day, South Central Zone Cultural Center will also organise a performance of Mallakhamba and Dandpatta which are traditional sports of Maharashtra.
