Pune, 2 September 2022
Union Civil Aviation Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia expressed confidence today that aviation will become the major means of transportation in the country in the near future. While interacting with the students of Symbiosis International University at Lavele near Pune he said that there is need to make domestic aviation within the reach of common people. Reduction in the Value Added Tax (VAT) on aviation turbine fuel by the states will be helpful, and out of 22 states 16 have been responded positively to this proposal.
Earlier while addressing the “Festival of Thinkers” a Lecture Series organised by the Symbiosis he gave valuable advice to the students about Leadership. He said, a Good Leader should have certain qualities. He must have a vision, ability to set up a Goal and the ability to set up a direction towards achieving that Goal. He must have courage and commitment, and it should come from heart. He advised the students that they should learn from failure and move ahead.
He further said considering the increasing number of planes and flights, it is also the endeavour of the ministry to have adequate trained personnel. In the last six months nine flying training schools have been started to cater these demands. Under the Krishi Udan Yojana, there is a plan to transport perishable agricultural goods quickly and at discounted rates. During the last 2 years, the volume of air cargo has increased by 19 percent, he added.
