BIS Hosts ‘Manak Carnival’ in Nashik to Celebrate World Consumer Rights Day 2025

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai Branch Office-I organized the ‘Manak Carnival’ at K.K. Wagh Institute of Engineering Education & Research, Nashik on 22nd March, 2025 to mark World Consumer Rights Day 2025. The event aimed to raise awareness about quality standards and the importance of ISI-marked BIS-certified products.

The Mumbai Branch Office-I set up a BIS stall to educate visitors on standardization, ISI-marked products, and the BIS Care App for consumer empowerment. More than 20 industry and college stalls showcased BIS-certified products, emphasizing the role of standards in ensuring product quality and consumer safety.The carnival witnessed enthusiastic participation from over 1,200 Standards Club members, industry representatives, academic institutions, and government officials. The event featured several engaging activities, including an inter-school and inter-college dance competition with over 20 performances by Standards Club members, an open quiz competition with participation from more than 1,200 students, and an interschool poster-making competition that encouraged creativity on the theme of quality standards. Additionally, product demonstrations and interactive consumer awareness sessions were held to enhance understanding of the significance of standardization.

The event was graced by distinguished guests from BIS including Scientist-G & Deputy Director General (Western Region) Shri Sanjay Goswami, DDG PRT,  Ms. Chitra Gupta, Shri Surya Kalyani, Head TNMD, and Shri Pinaki Gupta, Head of Mumbai Branch Office-I. From K.K. Wagh Institute, notable attendees included Shri Ajinkya Wagh, Director of Public Relations, Dr. Keshav Nandurkar, Principal of the Engineering College, Dr. Vinayak Sevlikar, Dr. Nanasaheb Gurule, Prof. Harshal Dandgawal, and Dr. Shahabadkar.

The Manak Carnival provided an excellent platform for industries to engage directly with students and consumers, reinforcing their commitment to quality and standards. Attendees gained valuable insights into the impact of standards on everyday products and their crucial role in ensuring safety, reliability, and efficiency. With an overwhelming response from students, industry leaders, and academia, the event successfully strengthened consumer awareness and BIS’s mission of fostering trust through quality standards.
