The Buddhist Mahakaruna Diwas was celebrated on February 4 at Nehru Memorial Museum and Library Auditorium in New Delhi for spreading the message of ‘great compassion’ preached by Lord Buddha.
Various religious leaders and Buddhist monks spoke on the theme “Mahakaruna-Compassion in Action” and paid homage to Lord Buddha.
The message of the celebration was “When it comes to inspiring a nation into greatness, cultivating compassion into the hearts of millions and educating the importance of love over hate.”
The students from Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC) Ladakh presented a number of cultural performances that enthralled the participants.
It was informed that that Mahakaruna Day Celebration on the 4th February was the part of celebration of the United Nations World Interfaith Harmony Week being observed from February 1 to 7 this year.
