In a remarkable demonstration of community solidarity, the Central Government Health Scheme (CGHS), Mumbai office, orchestrated a Blood Donation Camp and an Awareness Program on Organ Donation as part of Sewa Pakhwada 2023, on September 27, 2023 (Wednesday). These events, held at CGHS Wellness Centre No. 1, AG hall, Pratistha Bhawan, and Shamina Hall Income Tax, Mumbai, witnessed an overwhelming participation and unwavering support.
The programme commenced with the Blood Donation Camp, which was a collaborative effort with Tata Memorial Hospital and CGHS PANCHAYAT. It was followed by a programme on ‘Importance of Organ Donation’. Enthusiastic participantsincluded dedicated individuals from CGHS, various central government offices and members of the public, all uniting for a common cause.
The Blood Donation Camp, held on September 27, 2023, as part of the ongoing Sewa Pakhwada 2023, unfolded at CGHS Wellness Centre no. 1, AG Hall, Pratistha Bhawan, Mumbai, and immediately garnered fervent enthusiasm and steadfast backing. Within the first hour of the program’s commencement, an impressive 25 individuals volunteered for blood donation. A remarkable total of 163 volunteers joined the Blood Donation Camp, and following rigorous health assessments, 114 volunteers were found eligible and donated blood. Their altruistic contributions will undoubtedly make a substantial impact in saving lives. Each blood donor received a certificate recognizing their invaluable role in this life-saving initiative.
A motivational speech delivered by Shri Prushotam Pawar, President of The Federation of Organ & Body Donation, during the awareness program on organ donation inspired the attendees. This was followed by an infotainment programme on the theme of Organ donation, where staff members of CGHS Mumbai participated.
Dr. Nirmal Mandal, Additional Director of CGHS Mumbai, whowas present along with various senior doctors and officers, extended deepest gratitude to all participants, volunteers, and supporters who played a pivotal role in making this event a resounding success. This widespread attention underscores the significance of the event in fostering community well-being and health, he said.
The event garnered extensive media coverage, with the Press Information Bureau (PIB) spotlighting the importance of blood donation and organ donation awareness.
