Court sentences Western Railways Divisional Engineer to four years of rigourous imprisonment in a CBI case

The Special Judge for CBI cases, Mumbai has today sentenced the accused Shri K.L. Meena, the then Divisional Electrical Engineer (Power), Western Railway, Mumbai  to 03 years’ Rigorous Imprisonment with fine of Rs.30,000/- in a bribery case.

The instant case was registered by CBI on 15.04.2015 on compliant against Shri K.L. Meena, Sr. DEE (Power), Western Railway, Mumbai on the allegations of demanding illegal gratification of Rs.3,00,000/- for having awarded contracts to the complainant . CBI laid a trap and caught the accused red handed on 21.04.2015 while accepting the bribe amount of Rs.1,00,000/- from the complainant.

After completion of investigation, CBI filed chargesheet on 13.10.2015 against the accused. Thereafter, charges were framed on 29.09.2016.

The Court found accused guilty after trial and accordingly sentenced him. CBI cited 12 witnesses in support of the charges which stood test of trial in the Court.
