1. RUSSIAN DEPUTY PM ON VISIT TO INDIA
Prime Minister Modi received Mr Dmitry Rogozin, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia. Prime Minister conveyed that India attached the highest importance to the strategic and privileged partnership with Russia. He looked forward to visit Russia in the near future for a productive and historic.
2. SHILP GURU AWARDS TO BE PRESENTED
President Pranab Mukherjee will present 21 Shilp Guru and 59 National Awards to master crafts persons for the year 2012, 2013 and 2014 at a function at, New Delhi. The Shilp Guru award consist a gold coin, Rs. 2, 00, 000 in cash, a Tamrapatra, an Angavastram and a certificate while the National Award consist Rs. 1,00,000 in cash, a Tamrapatra, an Angavastram and a certificate.
3. BASIC COUNTRIES ISSUES JOINT STATEMENT AT PARIS
The BASIC countries are committed to reach a comprehensive, balanced, ambitious and legally binding agreement on climate change as reflected in their leaders’ statements at the opening of the Paris conference. The BASIC countries firmly believe that, through joint efforts of all Parties, the Paris Conference will live up to the high expectations of the international community.
4. NATIONAL AWARDS FOR INNOVATION IN EDUCATIONAL ADMINISTRATIONS
The National University of Educational Planning and Administration (NUEPA), New Delhi has instituted National Awards for Innovation in Educational Administrations for District and Block Level Education Officers. The second award presentation function organized by NUEPA will be held on 10th December, 2015.
5. MOU ON ESTABLISHING A TECHNOLOGY CENTRE AT KANPUR
A tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed, among Ministry of Textiles, Ministry of Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSME) & National Textile Corporation (NTC) in order to set up a Technology Centre (Tool Room) at Kanpur. Under the MoU, Ministry of MSME will fund the project, while NTC would provide the land in a closed, unviable mill.
6. NEW STUDY SEES POSSIBLE DIP IN CARBON DIOXIDE EMISSIONS
According to a new study by a scientific team, global carbon dioxide emissions may be dropping ever so slightly this year, spurred by a dramatic plunge in Chinese pollution. The unexpected dip could either be a temporary blip or true hope that the world is about to turn the corner on carbon pollution as climate talks continue in Paris.
7. US DESTROYER HEADED FOR TESTS
The largest destroyer ‘USS Zumwalt’ ever built for the U.S. Navy headed out to sea for the first time, departing from shipbuilder Bath Iron Works and carefully navigating the winding Kennebec River before reaching the open ocean where the ship will undergo sea trials.
8. INCLUDE ACID ATTACK VICTIMS IN DISABILITY LIST: SUPREME COURT
The Supreme Court directed the state governments and union territories administrations to include the names of the acid attack victims in the list of disabled people. The direction came as it said that the Rs.3 lakh compensation to the acid attack victims by the state governments as ordered by it 2013 was the minimum amount as actual compensation would vary from case to case depending on the nature and severity of the injury.
9. BABY ‘MONSTER’ GALAXIES ARE SWADDLED IN DARK MATTER
Scientists have discovered a nursery full of monstrous cosmic babies. Researchers report nine so-called monster galaxies – ones bursting with rampant star formation – from the early days of the solar system. Once upon a time, the universe was full of galaxies that grew at monstrous rates – thousands of times faster than modern galaxies. Scientists believe that these baby monsters grew into more typical spiral galaxies over time, but they don’t know much about how that process worked.
10. ANCIENT STOLEN ART TRACED IN UKRAINE
A trove of Dutch Golden Age art stolen from a provincial Dutch museum nearly 11 years ago has been linked to a volunteer nationalist militia in Ukraine. The Westfries Museum went public with claims that the 24 paintings snatched in a burglary on Jan. 9, 2005, along with 70 pieces of silverware are now being offered for sale in Ukraine, saying it wants to deter potential buyers.
11. BILL ON BOUNCED CHEQUES PASSED BY PARLIAMENT
Negotiable Instruments (Amendment) Bill, 2015, permitting the filing of cases at the place where a cheque is presented for clearance and not the place of issue was approved by parliament with the Rajya Sabha giving its nod.
12. EL NINO NEAR PEAK INTENSITY
According to Australia’s weather bureau, the current El Nino weather event is near its peak intensity and likely to persist well into 2016, but some indicators are showing signs of easing. The 2015/16 El Nino will be the one of the three strongest events in the past 50 years.
13. JAPAN LEAVES RECESSION
Japan sidestepped recession last quarter. Revised data showed its economy grew at an annual 1.0 per cent pace instead of shrinking. A previous estimate had shown the world’s third—largest economy contracted 0.8 per cent in the July—September quarter, after shrinking 0.5 per cent in the previous quarter. Two consecutive quarters of contraction are considered a recession.
14. NMDC APPOINTS 3 NEW NON-OFFICIAL DIRECTORS
Pradip Bhargava, Shymal K Sarkar and S M Nigam have been appointed as non-official independent directors on the board of NMDC Ltd for a period of three years with effect from November 27, 2015.
15. BERNIE SANDERS WINS READERS’ POLL
US Democratic presidential candidate Bernie Sanders has won the online readers’ poll for Time Magazine Person of the Year, beating some of the world’s best-known politicians, activists and cultural figures such as Nobel laureate Malala Yousafzai and Pope Francis.

16. US DEPLOY SPY PLANE IN SINGAPORE
The United States has agreed with Singapore on a first deployment of the U.S. P-8 Poseidon spy plane in Singapore this month in a maritime security role.
17. Rs. 345 CRORE FOR POLAVARAM PROJECT RELEASED
The Central Government has released funds to the tune of Rs. 345 crore to Andhra Pradesh Government for construction of Polavaram project as on September this year. As per provisions of Andhra Pradesh Reorganization Act, 2014 Centre is committed to provide 100 per cent funds for construction of the project.
18. CANADA, MEXICO WIN CASE IN WTO AGAINST US
Canada and Mexico won WTO approval to impose up to $1 billion a year in trade sanctions against the United States over its country-of-origin labeling requirement for beef and pork. An arbitration panel ruled that the US policy, known by its acronym COOL, was unfair because it puts imported livestock at a disadvantage to domestic livestock.
19. IRAN TESTS MISSILE
Iran tested a new medium-range ballistic missile last month in a breach of two U.N. Security Council resolutions. All ballistic missile tests by Iran are banned under a 2010 Security Council resolution that remains valid until a nuclear deal between Iran and six world powers is implemented.
20. ARSENIC FROM CHILEAN MINES FOUND IN ANTARCTICA
Researchers in Antarctica have found ice with traces of arsenic that originated at copper mines in northern Chile. Arsenic, a poisonous substance, is used in smelting copper and is often released into the air during processing.
21. IRAN SWINE FLU OUTBREAK KILLS 33
An outbreak of swine flu has left 33 people dead in two provinces of southeastern Iran in the past three weeks. There had been 28 deaths in Kerman province and five in Sistan-Baluchistan and warning the H1N1 virus was likely to spread to other areas including the capital Tehran.
22. DAIMLER, BMW, AND AUDI ACQUIRE NOKIA’S
The holy trinity of German carmakers, Daimler, Audi, and BMW, has finally concluded the purchase of Nokia’s digital navigation business called ‘HERE’. Reportedly, the acquisition of this mapping system was vital for the development of the respective companies’ self-driving car technologies. All 3 companies will hold an equal stake in HERE.
23. NRI GETS UTTAR PRADESH RATNA AWARD
An Indian-American entrepreneur Frank Islam was conferred with Uttar Pradesh Ratna Award to recognise his achievements and outstanding contributions in a foreign country. He will be honoured by UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav at the inaugural UP Pravasi Diwas in Agra on January 4.
24. BCCI ANNOUNCES RS 2 CRORE FOR TEAM INDIA
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a cash award of Rs 2 crore for the Indian team for beating South Africa 3-0 in the just-concluded Test series. India defeated South Africa by a 337 runs in the fourth and final Test to record their biggest Test series win at the Feroz Shah Kotla in New Delhi.
25. NEW US SPACE MINING LAW IN NEWS
President Barack Obama signed legislation that allows commercial extraction of minerals and other materials, including water, from asteroids and the moon. That could kick off an extraterrestrial gold rush, backed by a private aeronautics industry that is growing quickly and cutting the price of commercial space flight.
26. KARNATAKA LOKAYUKTA RESIGNS
Karnataka’s anti-corruption ombudsman or Lokayukta, Justice Y. Bhaskar Rao, has resigned. For months, there had been a clamour for his resignation over allegations that an extortion racket was being run from his office.
27. CAROLINA MARIN WIN FEMALE PLAYER OF THE YEAR AWARD
All England and world champion Carolina Marin beat Saina Nehwal to win the Female Player of the Year award from BWF president Poul-Erik Hoyer in Dubai. Marin, who won six titles, held off competition from China’s Zhao Yunlei, Saina and China’s Bao Yixin.
28. GENETICALLY MODIFIED MOSQUITOES TO FIGHT MALARIA
The mosquito species Anopheles gambiae is a major carrier of dangerous malaria parasites. Team of researchers has genetically modified Anopheles gambiae so that they carry a modified gene disrupting egg production in female mosquitoes. They used a technology called ‘gene drive’ to ensure the gene is passed down at an accelerated rate to offspring, spreading the gene through a population over time.
29. ‘HEART OF ASIA’ CONFERENCE BEGINS IN PAKISTAN
The fifth ‘Heart of Asia’ conference, an annual gathering of Asian and other countries, hosted by Pakistan in Islamabad with focus on Afghanistan started where External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj will represent India at the ministerial-level meeting.
30. INDIA TO SET UP 8 NEW ECOLOGICAL OBSERVATORIES
India will set up eight new ecological observatories, as compared to just one at present, including in the Himalayas and Western Ghats, to map the long-term impacts of climate change, Environment Minister Prakash Javadekar has said.
31. MAURITIUS PRESIDENT ARRIVES IN HYDERABAD
President of Mauritius Ameenah Gurib-Fakim arrived in Hyderabad for a two-day visit. The Mauritian President will visit Charminar, Salarjung Museum and Falaknuma Palace in Hyderabad.
32. GLOBAL FOSSIL-FUEL EMISSIONS MAY DECLINE IN 2015: STUDY
According to a new report, annual global carbon dioxide emissions from fossil fuels could drop slightly in 2015, even as India figured as the fourth top emitter in 2014, accounting for 7.2 per cent of worldwide emissions. The report from the Global Carbon Project identified China as the world’s top carbon dioxide emitter in 2014, responsible for 27 per cent of global emissions, followed by the US (15.5 per cent), and European Union (9.5 per cent).

33. INDIA RECORDS HIGHEST INFANT DEATHS
Over three lakh babies die annually in India making it the country with highest number of infant deaths due to premature births. As per World Health Organisation (WHO) Publication ‘Born too Soon: The Global Action Report on Preterm Birth’ out of an estimated annual 2.7 crore live births, in India 35 lakh babies are born preterm and out of these 3.03 lakh babies die due to complication of preterm birth.
34. IRAN BECOME INDIA’S 5TH LARGEST OIL SUPPLIER
Iran has toppled Kuwait to become India’s fifth largest crude oil supplier in the first half of fiscal year 2015-16, selling over 6.5 million tonnes of oil. Iran, which was India’s second biggest supplier of crude oil after Saudi Arabia till 2010-11, sold 6.53 million tonnes of oil to India in April-September as compared to 5.31 million tonnes crude coming from Kuwait.
35. WOCKHARDT GETS QIDP STATUS FROM US REGULATOR
A new antibiotic drug by pharmaceutical major Wockhardt has been conferred the status of qualified infectious disease product (QIDP) by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The company received the coveted status for the antibiotic named ‘WCK 5222’, a product from its new drug discovery programme in anti-infectives.
36. WORLD’S TINIEST TEMPERATURE SENSOR DEVELOPED
Hao Gao, researcher at the Eindhoven University of Technology (TU/e) in the Netherlands, developed the sensor that measures just 2 square millimetres and weights a mere 1.6 milligrammes, equivalent to a grain of sand. This tiny wireless temperature sensor is powered by the radio waves that are part of the device’s own network.
37. MEXICO’S 1400BHP INFERNO HYPERCAR REVEALED
At the recently concluded technology exhibition held in Santa Fe called Expo Bancomer, the Inferno Exotic Car, designed with the help of Mexican design group LTM Hot Spot, was finally put on display for the world to see. The Inferno’s shell was created by using specially formulated ‘metal foam’ made out of a zinc-aluminium-silver alloy. The material is said to be stretchable by a factor of 100 which should prevent the car’s body structure from crumpling upon impact, rendering it virtually indestructible.
38. NAVAL EXERCISE BETWEEN INDIA-RUSSIA ‘INDRA NAVY’ BEGINS
In the current exercise, Indian Navy is being represented by INS Sahyadri (an indigenous frigate), INS Ranvijay (a guided missile destroyer) and INS Shakti (a fleet support ship). The Russian Federation Navy (RFN) ships Varyag (cruiser), Bystry (destroyer), Alatau (rescue ocean going tug) and Boris Butoma (fleet tanker) are also taking part in the operation.
39. INDUSTRY GROUP TO LAUNCH FIRST PHYSICAL GOLD EXCHANGE
Mumbai-based India Bullion and Jewellers Association (IBJA), a group consisting of gold dealers, traders and jewellers is planning to launch the country’s first physical gold trading exchange, in an attempt to bring transparency to the market for the precious metal in the world’s second biggest consumer.
40. BIHAR APPROPRIATION BILL PASSED
The Bihar legislative Assembly passed the second supplementary demands of the state government to the tune of Rs. 6,714.22 crore and the Bihar Appropriation Bill (No. 4), 2015, by voice vote on the final day of the inaugural session of the newly-constituted 16th legislative Assembly.
41. MANOHAR PARRIKAR VISIT US PACIFIC COMMAND
Manohar Parrikar has visited the US Pacific Command headquarters in Hawaii, becoming the first-ever Indian Defence Minister to visit the key facility in a sign of deepening of military ties between the two strategic partners.
42. CHINESE STRATOSPHERE AIRSHIP CONDUCTS FIRST FLIGHT
China recently conducted its first test flight of an indigenously made stratosphere airship which is capable of long flights in the stratosphere. The airship was given the name “Dream”. The stratosphere airship is an aerostat lighter than air. Its driving power comes from solar energy. It has also been equipped with a propulsion system.
43. IT SERVICES EXPORTS UP 15%
India’s total export of IT, ITeS (IT-enabled services) and BPO services grew 14.8 per cent to $82 billion (Rs 5.01 lakh crore) in 2014-15. India’s total export of computer services and ITeS/BPO services (excluding commercial presence) during 2014-15 is estimated at Rs 5,014 billion ($82 billion), registering 14.8 per cent growth in dollar terms over the previous year.
44. INDIA ADDS 112 SQ. KM. TO MANGROVE COVER
The latest report of the Forest Survey of India (FSI), 2015 released in the first week of December has recorded a net increase of 112 sq. km. of mangroves forest — one of the regions most vulnerable to climate change. The earlier FSI report in 2013 recorded a net decrease of 34 sq. km. of mangrove forest. According to the latest report, the overall mangrove cover in the country stands at 4,740 sq. km., which is 0.14 sq. km. of India’s overall geographical area.
45. SHWETA CLINCHES WOMEN’S AIR PISTOL GOLD
Asian Games medallist Shweta Singh shot better in the climax to beat Yashaswini Deswal by 1.7 points for the gold in the women’s air pistol in the 59th National shooting championship at the Dr. Karni Singh Range, Tughlakabad.
