DEVELOPMENT OF ANIMAL HUSBANDRY


The Government is implementing various schemes to enhance production and productivity of bovines & small ruminants (sheep & goat), piggery & poultry across the country namely:

i.    RashtriyaGokul Mission
ii.    National Programme for Dairy Development 
iii.    Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund
iv.    Supporting Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organizations engaged in dairy activities 
v.    National Livestock Mission
vi.    Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund
vii.    Livestock Health & Disease Control
viii.    National Animal Disease Control Programme 
ix.    Livestock Census and Integrated Sample Survey

Under RashtriyaGokul Mission the following new technologies have been made accessible to the farmers for enhancement of milk production and productivity of bovines
•    IVF Technology for Bovines
•    Use of Bovine Sex Sorted Semen
    
In order to improve milk production and productivity and genetic merit of bovine the Department has been implementing Progeny Testing and Pedigree Selection Programme under RGM for production of High Genetic Merit Bulls of Indigenous Breeds. High Genetic Merit Bulls of exotic breeds have also been imported under National Dairy Plan-I and Rashtriya Gokul Mission. In order to extend the Artificial Insemination coverage in the country, the Department has initiated Nation Wide Artificial Insemination Programme (NAIP).

The Government is implementing various schemes for promotion and development of dairy sector including setting up of milk processing units in the country namely:
(i).    National Programme for Dairy Development (NPDD): For creating/strengthening of infrastructure for production of quality milk, procurement, processing and marketing of milk and milk products by State Implementing Agency.
(ii).    Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF): For creation /modernization /expansion of dairy processing, chilling and value addition infrastructure.
(iii).    Supporting Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organizations engaged in dairy activities (SDC&FPO): To assist the Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer organisations by providing soft loan for working capital and to provide stable market access to the dairy farmers.
(iv).    Animal Husbandry Infrastructure Development Fund: For assisting Dairy Processing and value addition infrastructure.

Assam- Out of two projects approved in Assam, one project was closed completely and other partially as the State did not agree to implement the project.

Bihar- One project approved in Bihar was closed completely after approval and first installment refunded as the State did not agree to implement the project.

Uttar Pradesh-Six projects have been approved. However, Uttar Pradesh has completely refunded funds released under 4 projects and partially under remaining 2 projects.

 

2.Dairy Processing and Infrastructure Development Fund (DIDF):

As on 30.11.2021, under DIDF, 39 Projects from 13 States with a total outlay of Rs. 5100.40 Crore with a loan component of Rs. 3463.02 Crore have been sanctioned by NDDB and NCDC. Further, Rs. 1235.70 Crore of loan has been disbursed. Further, 45 LLPD Milk Processing Capacity, 113 BMCs with 3.4 LLPD capacity, 165 MTPD Drying capacity and 6.76 LLPD VAP capacity have been established.

 

3. Supporting Dairy Cooperatives and Farmer Producer Organizations engaged in dairy activities (SDCFPO):

 

As on 14.01.2022, NDDB has conveyed sanction of Interest Subvention amount of Rs 151.02 crore against working capital loan amount of Rs 10588.64 Cr @ 2% p.a and released Rs 154.74 Cr(Rs 78.23 Cr as regular interest subvention and Rs 76.51 Cr as additional interest subvention amount)for the year 2020-21. NDDB has conveyed sanction of Interest Subvention amount of Rs 157.83 crore against working capital loan amount of Rs 10,910.30 Cr @ 2% p.a for the year 2021-22.
