Shri Digambar Kamat, Member of the Legislative Assembly from Madgaon and former chief minister of Goa, inaugurated the five-day multimedia exhibition being organized by Central Bureau of Communication-Goa, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Government of India, on the occasion of Independence Day 2024 at Railway Station, Madgaon, on Wednesday, August 14th, 2024.
The exhibition, being organized in collaboration with Konkan Railway Corporation Limited, will be open to the public from 10.00 AM to 08.00 PM till 18th August, 2024.
The exhibition features immersive experiences on Partition Horror with VR reenactments, interactive displays on New Criminal Laws explaining the latest legislative changes, and rare photos of India’s Independence, apart from other audio-video elements. Creative digital content on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan has also been displayed at the event.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural event, Shri Digambar Kamat said that CBC had done a fantastic job by putting up the exhibition as it gives a clear picture on how our country got freedom. Talking about the Partition, he said that we can’t even imagine the hardship the people went through during the Partition but the photos displayed at the exhibition give us a picture of that.
He applauded the CBC and Konkan Railway for coming together to organize the exhibition. The MLA also called upon the public to visit the exhibition in large numbers.
Shri Kamat distributed prizes to the winners of rangoli competition conducted by the CBC as part of the event. The MLA also distributed national flags to the Safai Karamcharis at the Madgaon railway station as part of the Har Ghar Tiranga campaign launched by government of India.
Smt Deepali Naik, Project Director, DRDA South Goa, while addressing the gathering, appreciated the women members of self-help groups for taking part in the event.
Shri Baban Ghatge, Deputy General Manager, Konkan Railway, said that the information and details displayed at the exhibition will be very useful for the younger generation to understand the history of Indian freedom struggle.
Shri Nana Meshram, Director, PIB Goa; Shri Gurudas Kadam, DySP, Konkan Railway Police Station; officials and employees of the CBC and Konkan Railway, and members of various self-help groups were also present at the inaugural function,
As part of the event, the CBC is also conducting an inter-school Quiz Competition for the students of high schools in South Goa district at 11.00 AM on 16th August.
