DRI seizes 11.94 kg of Heroin from Mumbai Airport

The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence, Mumbai seized 11.94 kg of heroin from an Indian female passenger from the Mumbai airport. The seized substance is valued at approximately Rs. 84 crore. The passenger along with two people who had arrived to receive her have been arrested and further investigation is underway.

DRI Mumbai acted on specific intelligence and apprehended the passenger who had arrived in Mumbai from Harare via Nairobi on a Kenya Airways flight on 14th February 2023. Creamish granules recovered from her baggage tested positive for Heroin. The passenger informed that the drugs were handed to her in Harare and were to be handed over to two persons in Mumbai. The said recipients have also been arrested by the officials.

Heroin is a narcotic drug covered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, 1985. In this instance, the drug was concealed inside trolley bags and file folders. All three persons arrested were under provisions of NDPS Act 1985. Further investigation is underway.
