Katie Ledecky, the 20-year-old American swimmer made history by winning 12 gold medals at the swimming world championships.
She is a five-time Olympic gold medalist and twelve-time world champion, the most in history for a female swimmer.
She holds the record for the most gold medals at the World Championships. She is the current world-record holder in the women’s 400-, 800-, and 1,500-meter freestyle (long course).
She also holds the fastest-ever times in the women’s 500-, 1000-, and 1,650-yard freestyle events.
