Google announced rollout of the latest version of its Android operating system — Nougat — for Nexus devices.
Google names each major release version of Android after something sweet. The previous versions were Marshmallow, Lollipop, Kitkat, Jellybean, Ice cream Sandwich, Honeycomb, Gingerbread, Froyo, Eclairs and Donut.
Now, the Nexus 6, Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Nexus 9, Nexus Player, Pixel C and General Mobile 4G (Android One) will get an over-the-air software update to Android 7.0 Nougat.
The new OS version will offer users more productivity options, better battery life and is said to be more secure than the previous avatars.
The LG V20 will be the first non-Google smartphone to come with Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Nexus line of devices runs the Android operating system, with Google managing design, development, marketing and support of these devices.
The manufacturing is carried out by original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). In the past, Nexus devices have been manufactured by OEMs like Motorola, HTC, Huawei and LG.
