The Western Naval Command of the Indian Navy proudly announces the 2nd edition of the Indian Navy Mumbai Heritage Run-2023. The event will take place on Sunday, 06 August 2023, bringing together participants from all walks of life to celebrate and promote the rich legacy of the South Mumbai Heritage district and a healthy lifestyle. South Mumbai Heritage District is known for its striking architectural beauty, characterized by historical precincts and structures that showcase an exceptional blend of neo-Gothic landscapes.
As custodians of some of the oldest standing structures in the city, the Indian Navy takes great pride in preserving and popularising Mumbai’s heritage. The Indian Navy Mumbai Heritage Run-2023 serves as a platform to encourage participants to explore the heritage district fostering a deeper connection with the city’s historical past, promoting a sense of pride and ownership among the citizens and in the process creating a memorable experience for participants and spectators alike.
The first edition of the Indian Navy Mumbai Heritage Run was conducted on 13 August 2022 that brought together heritage and fitness enthusiasts alike. The event garnered immense popularity with an impressive 5000+ registrations. The run took participants on a captivating journey through the city covering 37 heritage sites along the route. The event culminated at the iconic Gateway of India, where participants had the opportunity to admire and unwind in proximity of this iconic symbol of Mumbai.
Over 6,500 runners from across all age groups have registered for this edition of Indian Navy Mumbai Heritage Run. The run has two distance categories namely 10 Kms – ‘Varuna Run’ and 5 Kms – ‘Samudra Run’.
The meticulously crafted race routes will take runners through time, passing timeless historical sites, architectural marvels and cultural hotspots of South Mumbai. To ensure the safety and enjoyment of all runners, Indian Navy has partnered with professional Race Management Partner, experienced medical teams and dedicated volunteers who will be stationed along the route to assist and cheer the participants. These partnerships highlight the spirit of Mumbai and collective efforts to preserve and promote the city’s rich cultural heritage.
