India’s Fifth Highest Wicket-Taker in Tests

Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin became India’s fifth-highest wicket taker in Tests after going past Bishen Singh Bedi’s tally of 266 Test wickets.

Ashwin, who picked six wickets in Australia’s second innings, also registered his career’s 25th five-for and reached 200 Test wickets on home venues in 30 Tests.

Next on the list is Ashwin’s former team-mate Zaheer Khan (311), followed by fellow offspinner Harbhajan Singh (417), Kapil Dev 434 and current head coach Anil Kumble (619).

This was Ashwin’s 47th Test match. His overall wickets tally at home now moves to 202 wickets.
