Prize distribution ceremony held today at the state level painting competition by Power Grid Corporation of India today. 6 students from two categories i.e. standard 5 to 7 and standard 8 to 10 awarded cash and a certificate. The winners will represent Goa at New Delhi for National level competition. Shri S. Ravindar Kumar, Executive Director, WR-1, POWERGRID, Shri Mahesh Vengurlekar, Retd. Principal, Goa College of Fine Arts, Panaji, Shri Vivek Wasant Belokar, Assistant Director; Directorate of Technical Education and Shri R. Narayan, G.M.(HR), WR-1, POWERGRID were present on the occasion.
Powergrid corporation of India will nurture the students by giving them platform and guidance, said Shri Ravindar Kumar. Special workshops for the students will be organized with the help of Goa College of Fine Arts and various schools.
State level painting competition on ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’ ‘Energy Efficient India’ and ‘Cleaner Planet’ under National Energy Conservation Mission was organized by Power Grid Corporation of India, Ministry of Power between 3rd December to 7th December. The competition was organized in two categories of the students i.e. standard 5to 7 and standard 8 to 10. Total 2235 students participated in the competition from the state.
From 5 to 7 Standard Group Sara Pareira got first prize, Khushi Pednekar and Verian Valadares got second and third prize respectively. From Class 8 to 10 Kanishka Phal Desai got first prize and Aryan Vengurlekar and Kunal Bar got second and third prize respectively. First prize Rs. 50,000, Second Prize Rs. 30,000 and Third prize awarded Rs. 20,000 for both the groups. 10 consolation prizes of Rs. 7500 from each group were also awarded on this occasion.
The Ministry of Power has launched the National Awareness Campaign in order to promote energy conservation in the country. Painting competition for students at the School, State and at National level has been included as one of the activities of the campaign, which would not only make aware the children about the need of conserving energy but at the same time would educate and involve their parents as well in the above cause. The identified activity is one of the measures, which can help in creating awareness in the domestic sector.
