New 62 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas

The Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs (CCEA) approved for the opening of new Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) each in “62 uncovered districts”.

There will be seven Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas in Delhi — one each in East, West, South, North, North East, South East Delhi and Shahdara, while Jammu and Kashmir will have five such schools — one each in Srinagar, Bandipura, Ramban, Kishtwar and Phulwama.

These Navodaya Vidyalaya are aimed at providing quality education to the talented children mainly from the rural areas.

The move is expected to benefit nearly 35,000 students.
