He replaced Lt. Gen. Singh, who took over command of a strike corps on the Western border.
Lt. Gen. Ranbir Singh replaced Lt. Gen. Shokin Chauhan as GOC of Mathura-based 1 Strike Corps.
Lt. Gen. Chauhan has been appointed DG of Assam Rifles on deputation for two years.
