New Post Office Passport Seva Kendras

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) and the Department of Posts (DOP) had announced  their decision to utilize the Head Post Offices (HPO) in the various States as Post Office Passport Seva Kendra (POPSK) for delivering passport related services to the citizens of our country.

The objective of this partnership is to extend passport services on a larger scale and to ensure wider area coverage.

The pilot projects for this joint venture between MEA and DOP was inaugurated on 25 January, 2017 at the Post Offices at Mysuru in Karnataka and at Dahod in Gujarat.

Following the success of these pilot projects, the MEA and DOP announced earlier this month their decision to open 56 POPSKs (in the first batch of expansion) in various States of the country.

MEA and DOP are working closely for the early announcement of passport related services at these 56 POPSKs.

Both have now decided to open another 8 (eight) POPSKs in the second batch in Maharashtra at the following places:

i) Aurangabad
ii) Beed
iii) Jalgaon
iv) Kolhapur
v) PimpriChinchwad
vi) Ghatkopar
vii) Mumbai North Central
viii) Mumbai South Central

These would be in addition to the Passport Seva Kendras already functioning at Andheri East, Lower Parel,Malad, Thane, Nasik, Pune and Nagpur in Maharashtra.

A Passport Seva Laghu Kendra(PSLK) at Solapur in Maharashtra is scheduled to be operationalised shortly.

The MEA and DOP would continue to work closely for early commencement of passport related services at these 64 POPSKs. Once fully functional, applicants who apply for their passport through the passport portal, will be able to schedule an appointment at the above POPSK to complete the formalities necessary prior to the issue of the passport.
