NFDC Launches the Sixth Edition of the Chile & NFDC Film Festival

The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC)  inaugurated the sixth edition of the Chile & NFDC Film Festival, a five-day cinematic celebration that commenced on March 26 and will run until March 30, 2025. This year’s festival brings together a rich selection of Chilean and NFDC films, highlighting Indo-Chilean cinematic collaborations and promoting global storytelling.

The Opening Ceremony was graced by Mr. Gustavo González, Consul General of Chile, Director Jorge López Sotomayor, and Consular representatives from Argentina, Indonesia, Egypt, Mexico, Uzbekistan, and Israel. The event was hosted by Ms. Jayita Ghosh, Marketing Manager of NMIC, who led an engaging in-conversation session between Mr. González and the director, discussing Indo-Chilean cinematic collaborations. Following the discussion, the festival opened with the screening of El Último Grumete, a 40-year-old Chilean classic directed by Sotomayor. The festival’s lineup includes Chilean films (Date una Vuelta en el Aire, El Último Grumete) and NFDC’s critically acclaimed titles (Qissa, Island City), concluding with a repeat screening on March 30.

GM, NFDC , Mr. D. Ramakrishnan, expressed enthusiasm about collaborating with a sixth country for future editions of the festival, reaffirming NFDC’s commitment to expanding global partnerships and strengthening cultural exchanges.

To enhance the immersive experience, guests were treated Guests treated to Chilean cuisine, presented by the Consul General of Chile. With a strong lineup and growing international ties, the event continues to celebrate storytelling across borders.
