NIT Goa to award degrees to 209 students at 8th Convocation on September 30

The 8th Convocation of NIT Goa will be held on September 30, 2022 at Durbar Hall, Raj Bhavan. Governor Shri. P. S. Sreedharan Pillai will be the Chief Guest and Prof. Subhasis Chaudhuri, The Director, Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, will be the Guest of Honor. Director, NIT Prof Mugeraya informed that this year the institute will award B. Tech., M. Tech, and Ph.D. degrees to a total number of 209 students. 135 students will be awarded with B. Tech, 57 will be awarded M.Tech and  17 research students are going to receive  their Ph.D. 

Director, Prof. Mugeraya  further informed that Undergraduate students have been placed in various well known companies with a maximum pay package of 44 Lakhs and an average package of Rs. 13 Lakhs per annum this year. In addition, more than 90% of PG students have been placed in various well-known companies with a maximum pay package of 21.69 Lakhs and an average package of Rs. 10.59 Lakhs per annum. A few others have taken admission in IITS, NITS and opted for the MS and Ph.D. programmes across the globe in top foreign universities. The institute has won 88th position in the Engineering category of the nation-wide NIRF assessment.

In the field of research, the institute has 43 projects worth nearly Rs.17 crores undertaken by the faculty members from various research funding bodies such as the Department of Science & Technology, Ministry of Science & Technology and Ministry of New & Renewable Energy. NIT Goa has also trained school teachers and Principals under “Rashtriya Avishkar Abhiyan (RAA), under “Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA)”. The Institute has adopted 5 villages in Goa for sustainable development and has conducted various programs there such as field visits, household and village level surveys, and online quizzes.

The Director also informed that NIT Goa will soon shift to its new campus in Cuncolim, Goa.
