NMDC Gets New Chairman

In terms of the order of Ministry of Steel, the additional charge of the post of Chairman-cum-Managing Director, NMDC Ltd, has been assigned to Bharathi S Sihag, Additional Secretary and Financial Adviser, Ministry of Steel, for a period of three months with effect from January 1, 2016 or till the appointment of a regular incumbent to the post or until further orders, whichever is the earliest.

The NMDC (National Mineral Development Corporation) Limited is a state-controlled mineral producer of the Government of India. It is owned by the Government of India and is under administrative control of the Ministry of Steel.

It is involved in the exploration of iron ore, copper, rock phosphate, limestone, dolomite, gypsum, bentonite, magnesite, diamond, tin, tungsten, graphite etc.

It is India’s largest iron ore producer and exporter producing about 30 million tons of iron ore from 3 fully mechanised mines in Chhattisgarh and Karnataka.

It also operates the only mechanised diamond mine in the country at Panna in Madhya Pradesh.
