Daily Positivity Rate currently at 9.42%; less than 10% for 2 consecutive days

Nationwide Cumulative Vaccination Coverage crosses landmark of 20 Crore
 

  • India has recorded less than 3 lakh Daily New Cases for ten consecutive days now.2,08,921 Daily New Cases were registered in the last 24 hours.
  • Active Cases have decreased since its last peak on 10th May 2021.A net decline of 91,191is witnessed in the last 24 hours. It now comprises 9.19% of the country’s total Positive Cases.
  • India’s Daily Recoveries continue to outnumber the Daily New Cases for the 13th consecutive day. 2,95,955 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours. 87,034 more recoveries during the last 24 hours as compared to the daily new cases.
  • The highest ever single day tests 22,17,320 were conducted in the last 24 hours in the country.
  • The Weekly Positivity Rate is currently at 11.45% while the Daily Positivity rate has reduced and now stands at 9.42% today. It has remained less than 10% for 2 consecutive days now.
  • India has achieved a new milestone in its vaccination drive as the cumulative number of COVID-19 vaccine doses administered in the country has exceeded 20 Cr today under the Phase-3 of the Nationwide Vaccination Drive.

India crosses 20 Crore Cumulative COVID-19 Vaccination Coverage

42 percent population above 60 years have received at least 1st dose of the COVID19 vaccine

India achieved a significant milestone in its ongoing COVID-19 vaccination drive. On 130th day of the drive, the cumulative COVID Vaccination Coverage crossed the 20 crore mark (with 20,06,62,456 doses including 15,71,49,593 first dose and 4,35,12,863 second dose of COVID-19 vaccines), as per data available at 07:00 AM today.India’s COVID-19 Vaccination drive, the world’s largest vaccination drive so far, was launched by the Hon’ble Prime Minister on 16th January 2021.India is the second country after the USA to achieve this coverage in just 130 days. The USA took 124 days to reach the 20 crore mark.

More than 22 crore vaccine doses provided to States/UTs

Government of India has so far provided, both through the free of cost category and through direct state procurement category, more than 22 crore vaccine doses (22,00,59,880) to States/UTs.Of this, the total consumption, including wastages is 20,13,74,636 doses (as per data available at 8 AM today).More than 1.77 crore COVID Vaccine doses (1,77,52,594) are still available with the States/UTs to be administered.

Additional 29,250 vials of Amphotericin- B allocated to States/UTs

Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilizers Shri D.V SadanandaGowda announced that the additional 29,250 vials of Amphotericin- B drug, used in treatment of Mucormycosis, have been allocated to all the States/UTs today.Earlier, additional 19,420 vials of Amphotericin- B were allocated on 24th May and 23,680 vials of the drug were supplied across the country on 21st May.

Update on COVID Relief Aid
Government of India has been receiving international cooperation of COVID-19 relief medical supplies and equipment since 27th April 2021 from different countries/organisations. These are being promptly dispatched/delivered to the States and UTs.

Cumulatively, 17,831 Oxygen Concentrators; 18,111 Oxygen Cylinders; 19 Oxygen Generation Plants; 13,489 ventilators/ BiPAP; ~6.9 L Remdesivir vials, ~12L Favipiravir tablets delivered/ dispatched through road and air, from 27th April 2021 to 25th May 2021.

12 Oxygen Expresses with 969 MT of LMO beat tough weather & cyclone to take relief to the Nation from the Eastern States

Indian Railways is continuing its journey of bringing relief by delivering Liquid Medical Oxygen(LMO) to various states across the country. So far, Indian Railways has delivered more than 17945 MT of LMO in more than 1080 tankers to various states across the country.lt may be noted that 272 Oxygen Expresses have completed their journey so far and brought relief to various States.

In a scale up of operations which continued till late yesterday night 12 Oxygen Expresses with 969 MT of LMO started their journeys from Cyclone hit Eastern States and beat tough weather to take relief to the Nation.These 12 Oxygen Expresses include 3 trains for Tamil Nadu, 4 trains for Andhra Pradesh and 1 each for Delhi region, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Assam & Kerala. NTPC Bongaigaon starts COVID Care Centre
 

Continuing its effort against COVID, NTPC Bongaigaon Medical Cell today made the NTPC Bongaigaon COVID Care centre operational in association with Apollo TelehealthServices . The centre incorporates state-of-art technology to manage COVID cases at remote locations. The COVID care centre is equipped with 10 COVID beds, each equipped with a multipara monitor for continuous monitoring of temperature, SPO2, heart rate, blood pressure and respiratory rate.

Indian Navy Provides ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ to Palasa COVID Care Centre

Based on a request from the Srikakulam District Collector Shri J Niwas, the Indian Navy provided on ‘Oxygen on Wheels’ plant to Palasa COVID Care Centre on 25 May 21. It provides oxygen round the clock for up to 12 patients admitted in the hospital. The team has also trained hospital staff in the operation of the plant.

SJVN Ltd installs Four Oxygen Plants in Himachal Pradesh

SJVN Ltd, a joint venture of Ministry of Power and Government of Himachal Pradesh, is installing 4 Oxygen Plants in the districts of Shimla (Rampur), Kinnaur, LahaulSpiti&Hamirpur of Himachal Pradesh at a cost of around Rs. 4.5 Crore. SJVN has provided Cold Chain Equipments costing around Rs. 1 Crore to state government in support of its efforts to vaccinate the entire population of the state.

INPUTS FROM PIB FIELD UNITS

Kerala:240 vials of Amphotericin allotted by the Centre have finally reached Kerala. So far, 44 black fungus cases are confirmed in the state. Meanwhile, Police has initiated steps to check over pricing of Covid preventive medical equipment and products. DGP LoknathBehra said Special Branch police had been deployed in all districts to detect overcharging. Institutions, including medical stores in all districts, will be inspected by Special Branch officials. The aim is to ensure that Covid defense products are sold at the prices set by the government. Action would be taken against the companies which charge exorbitant prices for the products. The government has decided that the new academic year for schools and colleges in Kerala will begin on June 1 itself. Classes will be held online due to the prevailing Covid situation. The state confirmed 29,803 Covid-19 cases on Tuesday. As of now, there are 2,55,406 active cases in the state. With 177 more fatalities, the death toll has mounted to 7731. So far, a total of 87,77,431 people has taken vaccination in the state. Out of this, 67,56,652 were administered with first dose and 20,20,779 second dose.

 

Tamil Nadu:The Madras High Court has sought the TN government to submit a plan of action to deal with vaccination of people who are either homebound or have serious disabilities. Chief Minister M.K.Stalin on Wednesday revised upwards the incentive to accredited journalists by Rs 2,000 to Rs 5,000 for working despite Covid-19 pandemic.  Chief Minister directed Minsters and officials to ensure regular supply of essential items to people during the complete lockdown that is in force in the State. The Tamil Nadu health department has said that the state has recorded 34,285 fresh Covid positive cases on Tuesday and as many as 468 people succumbed to the virus. The number of active cases stood at 3.16 lakh cases after 28,745 people recovered. A total of 2,24,544 persons were given Covid-19 vaccination on Tuesday, including 1,89,578 in the 18-44 age group. In the 2,544 sessions held as many as 979 healthcare workers; and 2,314 front line workers were vaccinated. Till date 76,50,500 have been vaccinated across the State, of which 56,79,909 received first dose and 19,70,591 received second dose.

 

Karnataka: As per the State Government bulletin released for 25-05-2021, New Cases Reported: 22,758; Total Active Cases: 4,24,381; New Covid Deaths: 588; Total Covid Deaths: 26,399. Around 64,156 were vaccinated yesterday with a total of 1,23,10,317 have been vaccinated in the state till now. BBMP started vaccinating people from unorganised sectors. The Palike has identified people working in nearly 30 sectors for vaccination. The central government on Tuesday sent 1.25 lakh doses of Covaxin to the state under its quota.  200 doses of vaccination were administered at Yelahanka in collaboration with Manipal Hospitals, Bengaluru by Vaccination campaign organized by Powergrid for its employees and their families

 

Andhra Pradesh: State reported 15,284 new Covid-19 cases after testing 72,979 samples with 106 deaths, while 20,917 got discharged during the last 24 hours. A total of 81,56,085 doses of Covid vaccine have been administered in the state as on yesterday, which include 57,81,754 first doses and 23,74,331 second doses.  Principal Secretary (Health) Anil Kumar Singhal said that Covid jabs to high-risk groups in the 45+ age group are being administered since Monday.  At present, there are 1,17,980 doses of vaccine, which is sufficient to administer the second dose to 90,000 people from today, he said, further adding that the Centre has sent 4,35,990 doses of Covishield.  Singhal said that the State has procured 12,74,290 doses of vaccine on its own which is being used to administer as first dose to high-risk groups.  Andhra Pradesh has not reported any deaths due to black fungus despite a total of 252 cases emerging from various districts so far.  The State government has sent 2100 more Amphotericin-B vials to districts to treat black fungus cases in addition to 900 vials already dispatched. 

 

Telangana:As many as 3821 new daily cases and 23 deaths were reported yesterday taking the total positive cases in the state to 5,60,141 and fatalities to 3169. The number of active Cases in the state now stands at 38,706. After a gap of ten days, the State Health Department resumed the vaccination drive in the state yesterday to administer the second dose for the people aged above 45 years. The State Govt has decided to vaccinate the Super Spreaders like street vendors, delivery boys, auto and cab drivers, ration shop dealers etc from 28th of this month on priority basis. State Govt has also decided to permit  private hospitals designated as Covid Vaccination Centres to inoculate people aged above 18 years and vaccination at work places by registering on CoWin Portal. So far, 14 Oxygen Express trains have brought 1194 Metric Tonnes of Liquid Medical Oxygen to the state from various parts of the country.

 

Maharashtra:Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation has received a response from three more suppliers to its global tender to inoculate more than one crore Mumbai residents with vaccine against COVID-19. Out of the 8 proposals submitted to Mumbai civic body, 7 suppliers have shown interest in supplying Sputnik light vaccine while remaining one has opted for Astra Zeneca and Pfizer. With this, the total number of potential suppliers has gone up to 8. Nashik Municipal Corporation has decided to purchase 5 lakh Sputnik vaccine doses immediately to run the vaccination drive.

 

Gujarat: Class 12 exams of Science and General streams to begin from first of July in Gujarat. In view of COVID 19 pandemic, additional examination centres will be set up to ensure that students get centres near their homes.3255 new cases of corona have been reported on May 25. 44 patients died during this period. With this, the total cases have increased to 794902 in the state and 9655 have died so far.

 

Rajasthan: Rajasthan recorded 3,404 fresh COVID-19 cases on Tuesday that took its tally to 9,23,860 while 105 more fatalities pushed the death toll to 7,911. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot claimed that since May 1, more than 20,000 people have received free treatment through the ChiranjeeviYojana, that provides cashless treatment of up to 5 lakhs for just Rs 850 per year. It was also announced that rates have been fixed for tests regarding Covid-19 and Black Fungus in private hospitals and laboratories of Rajasthan.The number of active COVID-19 cases in Rajasthan stands at 1,12,218 while 8,12,775 people have recovered from the disease so far.

 

Madhya Pradesh: State will purchase a total of 5.7 crore vaccines including Covishield&Covaxin and issue a global tender for purchasing 1 crore vaccines. State cabinet also decided that 3.5 crore vaccinations to 18 plus age group will be given by March 2022.Chief Minister also declared that cabinet approved the COVID compassionate appointment scheme in which age limit has been removed for family members of those who die from corona who will be given class four appointment.A special drive will be done in June for these appointments.Chief Minister has transferred Rs. 112. 81 crore under COVID-19 assistance scheme into account of Rs. 11. 28 lakh construction workers.There were 2422 new infection cases in the state yesterday and 68 deaths.This is the lowest figure in the last 54 days.48 districts had less than 100 cases.Positivity rate is down to 3.3%.

 

Chattisgarh: State ranks sixth in the country in terms of immunization for citizens above 45 years of age and third in the country in immunization of health workers. 37 dedicated Covid Hospitals and 154 Covid Care Centers have been set up in the state including 6 Medical Colleges and AIIMS Raipur.

 

Goa: The state government has started ‘TikaUtsav’ (vaccination festival) in all panchayats and municipalities. CM Pramod Sawant has announced that vaccination for 18-45 age group in future will have on spot direct registration with priority given for lactating mothers and patients with comorbid conditions

 

Assam:. Assam State Government has declared curfew from 2 pm in rural areas where shops and other commercial establishments will remain closed from 1 pm with immediate effect. The Government has taken such a move taking the latest surge in the number of COVID-19 positive cases in rural areas into consideration.Assam on Tuesday registered 5,767 new cases of Coronavirus, pushing the active tally to 53,541, while, 92 fatalities have been recorded with a death rate of 0.76 per cent. The positivity rate of COVID-19 cases is 5.04 per cent and the overall count of the state has touched 3,81,171.Chief Minister HimantaBiswaSarma asked the Health Department to ramp up COVID care infrastructure for the Children and set up paediatricICU(PICU) in all Medical Colleges and Hospitals and district Hospitals in the state.

Manipur:In Manipur, 15 more lost their lives as State records highest ever spike of 824 COVID-19 cases.Chief Minister urged to cap hospital fees, avoid virus spread at vaccination centres.

Meghalaya:Meghalaya on Wednesday recorded its biggest single-day recovery of 755 even as 19 deaths took the death toll past the 500-mark. The state also recorded 957 fresh cases taking that active tally to 7,971. The death toll has risen to 502, while the number of people cured/discharged has risen to 22,976.

 

Nagaland:Nagaland recorded highest single day fatalities with 18 deaths on Tuesday taking the total to 303. The state reported 276 new cases, 4806 active cases and a total of 20,535.Chief Minister, Neiphiu Rio inaugurated 30-bedded COVID hospital at Chumukedima near Dimapur town. Rio also inspected several healthcare and Covid facilities during his visit.

Tripura:Corona curfew is going to be enforced in the entire state till June 5. The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting yesterday. According to the picture of the districts, at present, the average infection rate in West Tripura district is 12.32 percent. 5.33 inSepahijla district. 11.06 per cent in Khowai district, 6.56 per cent in Gomati district, 4.33 South Tripura district, 5.01 in Dhallai and 4.05 percent in North district. In the seven days of Corona Curfew the infection rate stood 22.82. Meanwhile in last 24 hours 773 people tested positive.State government has also decided to give financial relief to by granting financial aide of Rs. 1000 to 7 lakh families.

 

Sikkim: 278 new cases and 5 more COVID deaths recorded in Sikkim, the number of active cases in the State 3161. Total death so far 237.9K-plus 18-44 yr olds jabbed with Covishield in past nine days.

 

Punjab: The total number of patients tested Positive is 548231. Number of active cases is 53127. Total Deaths reported is 13642. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 1st dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 870938. Total COVID-19 Vaccinated with 2nd dose (Healthcare + Frontline Workers) is 247533. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 1st dose is 2736806. Total above 45 Vaccinated with 2nd dose is 459657.

 

Chandigarh: Total Lab confirmed COVID-19 cases is 58992. Total number of Active Cases is 4063. Total number of COVID-19 deaths till date is 714.

 

Haryana: Total Number of Samples found positive till date is 744602. Total active COVID-19 patients is 34088. Number of deaths is 7735. Cumulative number of people vaccinated till date is 5439215.
