Puneet Sagar Abhiyan: NCC Mumbai Cadets conduct beach cleaning drive at Juhu

National Cadet Corps (NCC) Mumbai B Group, on behalf of NCC Maharashtra Directorate, is conducting beach-cleaning drives in Mumbai as part of Puneet Sagar Abhiyan.  The NCC cadets carried out beach cleaning at Mumbais prominent tourist beach, Juhu Beach today, on the morning of 22nd  December 2021. 
The drive is part of a nationwide campaign by NCC to free seashores/beaches from plastic & other waste materials and increase awareness about importance of keeping these areas clean. The aim of the month-long Puneet Sagar Campaign is to propagate the message of Importance of Clean Seashores/Beaches amongst the local population and future generations. 

Prominent actor Shri Tej Sapru and eminent sports journalist Shri Milind Wagle participated in the drive at Juhu beach today, along with more than 80 cadet girls and boys of 1 Armd Squadron NCC and 1 Naval NCC. The cadets distributed pamphlets and conducted a Nukad Natak (street play) at the beach. Mr Tej Sapru interacted and motivated the cadets and spoke to them about their role as responsible citizens. 

The waste collected by the cadets has been handed over to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) which will use the plastic waste in construction of roads. This is as part of an MoU signed with NHAI. 

Group Captain Nilesh Dekhane, Group Commander of Mumbai B Group, Colonel SK Dahiya and Colonel Mitra also participated in the drive. Besides collecting plastic waste, they also interacted with the public and spread awareness about the drive.
 

The young cadets regularly participate in such large-scale social and nation-building activities.
