Release of special covers on Mahila Samman Savings Certificate and Mahadev Koli tribe by Department of India Post, Pune

East Division of Pune City Post Office organized a felicitation ceremony for the employees performing exceptionally well to increase the subscription of Mahila Samman Savings Certificate accounts. Special covers on Mahila Samman Savings Certificate and Mahadev Koli Tribe were released by the Department of India Post, Pune division on this occasion.

Rajya Sabha MP Prakash Javadekar was present as the Chief Guest for the felicitation ceremony.

To ensure the financial growth of women, Government of India launched the ‘Mahila Samman Savings Certificate’ scheme on April 1, 2023. The Pune Postal Region has opened 31,615 “Mahila Samman Savings Certificate” accounts in just three months during April 1, 2023 to June 30, 2023 which accounts to the investment of more than Rs. 237 crore.

Pune City East Division held a special three day campaign during June 23 to June 26, 2023 and opened more than 10,430 accounts during this campaign with the investment amount of more than Rs. 39 crore. This is a new record.

Speaking on the occasion Prakash Javadekar lauded the performance of the Departmen of India Post. He said the postal department has honoured the Tribal Community brothers in a unique way by unveiling a special cover on the Mahadev Koli Community. He noted that Pune postal region of postal department has financially empowered the women by opening the accounts of thousands of women in a very short period. He added that the Mahila Samman Savings certificate is a special scheme launched during the year of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav to financially empower the women under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Department of India Post is working relentlessly to reach out to thousands of women to open their accounts in this scheme.

He said that, the postal department has introduced various schemes. One can get the insurance, Aadhar Card, Passport in the Post Office itself, Our postmen have become digital. UPI platform in India has outclassed United states in digital transactions. He said that the Postal Department is running the Mahila Savings Certificate campaign very well.
