Rozgar Mela events held at Mumbai, Pune and Nagpur, Union Ministers hand over appointment letters to more than 800 people

The Government of India has begun a massive recruitment drive in order to induct 10 lakh people into the Indian civil services. The Rozgar Mela has been launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi today, beginning with the induction of 75,000 recruits into various Ministries and Departments of Government of India. The recruitment drive follows a human resources review by the Prime Minister, after which he announced on 14th June, 2022 that recruitment of 10 lakh people is to be done by the Government in mission mode. These recruitments are being done in mission mode by ministries and departments either by themselves or through recruiting agencies such as upsc, SSC and Railway Recruitment Board. Selection processes have been simplified and made tech-enabled for expeditious recruitment.

The Prime Minister launched the Rozgar Mela at a national level event via video conferencing, and addressed the appointees who joined the programme from fifty locations in the country. The Prime Minister said that keeping in mind the 75 years of independence, the central government is giving appointment letters to 75,000 youngsters under a programme. “We decided that a tradition of giving appointment letters in one go should be started so that a collective temperament of completing projects in a time-bound way develops in departments”, he said explaining the rationale of the Rozgar Mela. In the coming days also, candidates will get their appointment letters from the government from time to time.

 

395 candidates given appointment letters at Rozgar Mela event in Mumbai

Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Consumer Affairs & Food & Public Distribution and Textiles Piyush Goyal joined the programme in Mumbai. A total of 395 candidates received appointment orders in the event held at Mumbai. The Union Minister ceremonially handed over appointment orders to thirty new recruits. The new recruits  have received appointments variously in Department of Posts, Western Railway, Central Railway, Coast Guard, Armed Forces Medical College, Indian Navy, CISF, RCF, Mazgaon Docks Ltd., Income Tax, CBIC, ESIC, Central Bank of India, Union Bank of India, Maharashtra Bank, Vidarbha Konkan Grameen Bank, Canara Bank, NBCC and Seamen‘s Provident Fund Organization Mumbai, IIT Bombay, NIFT and BSF.

Addressing the new appointees of the Central Government, Union Minister Piyush Goyal urged them to work with a spirit of service and responsibility. Think of what expectations you had before you entered government service. We normally expect from government offices that they are run properly, good service is being given to citizens and also that cleanliness is maintained in the office. Stating these, the Minister asked the new recruits to work towards fulfilling these expectations of citizens. He expressed confidence about the new-recruits, who came through a transparent process, of working with a mindset of public service. He said that their skills will keep uploading as they go along working. Government of Maharashtra Minister of Tourism, Skill Development & Entrepreneurship and Women & Child Development Mangal Prabhat Lodha, Member of Parliament Mumbai North Central Lok Sabha Constituency Poonam Mahajan, Chief Post Master General of Maharashtra Veena Srinivas were also present.

204 candidates inducted to Government departments at event in Pune

In Pune, where Union MSME Minister Shri Narayan Rane was present, appointment orders were given to 204 candidates. A number of them ceremonially received the orders from the Union Minister. Speaking on the occasion, the MSME Minister said to the new recruits, “It is our duty to honestly provide service to the nation”. He urged them to work towards making India Aatmanirbhar, that is, self-sufficient and independent. The Union Minister Narayan Rane further said that those serving in the Government have hugely contributed in making the country great and wished them a successful future career in government service.  He also pointed out that the PM’s efforts to bring about development in all fronts in evident. The Prime Minister is giving confidence that the country’s economy is safe too, said the Minister. Government of Maharashtra Minister for Higher and Technical Education, Textiles and Parliamentary Affairs Shri Chandrakant Patil, Member of Parliament Prakash Javadekar and Post Master General Pune Region Ramchandra Jaybhaye were present among the dignitaries at the Pune event.

213 candidates inducted to Government departments at event in Pune

In Nagpur, appointment orders were given to total 213 candidates in presence of Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Dr. Ramdas Athawale. The Deputy CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis was also present at the event in Nagpur.  

Background

Today’s initiative will be a significant step towards fulfilling the Government’s commitment to providing job opportunities for the youth and ensuring the welfare of citizens. All Ministries and Departments are working towards filling up existing vacancies against sanctioned posts in Mission Mode.

The new recruits, selected from across the country, will join 38 Ministries/Departments of Government of India. The appointees will join the government at various levels viz. Group – A, Group – B (Gazetted), Group – B (Non-Gazetted) and Group – C. The posts on which appointments are being made include Central Armed Force Personnel, Sub Inspector, Constable, LDC, Steno, PA, Income Tax Inspectors, and MTS among others.
