SAI Mumbai Centre Wrestler Madhuri Patel Shines at U-23 National Championship

Madhuri Patel, a dedicated wrestling athlete from SAI National Center of Excellence (NCOE), Mumbai, representing Khandwa, Madhya Pradesh, secured a bronze medal in the 50 kg women’s wrestling category at the U-23 National Championship held in Rohtak, Haryana, from 15th to 19th August 2024. Her outstanding performance is a testament to her hard work and the rigorous training provided at Sports Authority of India (SAI) National Centre of Excellence at Mumbai.

In addition to Madhuri’s success, wrestling athletes from the SAI Regional Center, Mumbai’s Akhara, Jay Shivray Education Trust, Kolhapur also made significant strides at the championship. Neha Kiran secured a silver medal in the 50 kg category, Amrita Pujari clinched a silver medal in the 72 kg category, and Tanvi Magdoom earned a bronze medal in the 57 kg category.

On this occasion, Sh. Pandurang Chate (IRS), Regional Director, SAI Regional Centre, Mumbai, commented “Congratulations to all the promising athletes on their success in the recent Under-23 National Championship. The continued success from SAI Akharas shows the effort of these grassroot centres of SAI and SAI’s focus on talent identification and development from the grassroot district and taluka level. We wish to see more such athletes from SAI Akhara coming into prominence and further getting selected into SAI NCOE and TOPS schemes in the future.”
