PROMOTION OF BIOTECHNOLOGY IN NORTHEASTERN STATES OF INDIA
- The NER- BPMC established by DBT in 2009 is triggering to evolve and implement various new programmes in the area of biotechnology for the welfare of NER states.
- A DBT—AAU partnership centre on Agriculture Biotechnology and COE on Fisheries and Aquaculture Biotechnology (FAB) has been set up at Assam Agricultural University, Jorhat and College of Fisheries, CAU, and Tripura respectively.
- Advanced Diagnostics and Services on Animal Health and Disease (ADSAHD) have been established at College of Veterinary Sciences, AAU Khanpara and Guwahati.
- Keeping in view the high demand for use of laboratory animals, Animal House Facility for Biotechnology Research at Regional Medical Centre (RMRC) Dibrugarh, Assam has been established.
