Union Minister for Ports, Shipping & Waterways, and AYUSH Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, in august presence of by Minister of State for Ports, Shipping & Waterways and Tourism Shri Shripad Naik and Minister of State for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Shri Shantanu Thakur, will address the media on Monday (Oct 09th 2023) at MMRDA grounds. This is a pre-event address on the upcoming Global Maritime India Summit 2023 (GMIS 2023), scheduled from 17 to 19 October in Mumbai.

The third edition of GMIS 2023 aims to act as a catalyst for the Indian Maritime Economy by fostering global and regional partnerships and investments. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways in association with the Indian Ports Association (IPA) and FICCI as the exclusive industry partner, GMIS 2023 is envisaged to be a meeting point for the Indian and international maritime community. The event will bring together an array of global maritime players, policymakers, regulators, and key opinion leaders across multiple forums.

Over the past two months, the Ministry has undertaken a comprehensive domestic and international outreach programme aimed at heightening awareness and attracting investors and stakeholders. Anticipations are high, with more than 40 countries expected to participate officially. Additionally, ministers from 10 countries are slated to lend their voices to the discourse at the summit.

The event promises an impressive lineup of around 150+ exhibitors, comprising a mix of domestic and global companies alongside government organisations. Around 50000+ visitors and delegates are expected to participate in the event.

Secretary MoPSW, Shri TK Ramachandran along with senior officials from the Ministry, Mumbai Port, JNPA, SCI and DG Shipping will also be present at the media briefing.
