On the occasion of “International Day of Friendship”, Special cancellations, Picture Post Cards and bookmarks were released online by Ms. Veena Srinivas, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra Circle, Mumbai, Shri Amitabh Singh, Postmaster General (mail management), Shri. R.K. Jayabhaye, Postmaster General, Goa Region, Panaji, Shri. Narasimha Swamy, Sr. Supdt. of Post Offices, Goa Division. Shri. Aslesh Kamat, Vice President, Goa Philatelic and Numismatic Society, Goa alongwith the society members and other officers/officials of the Postal department were present on this occasion.
Ms. Veena Srinivas, Chief Postmaster General, Maharashtra and Goa Circle, in her address, explained the importance of friendship ‘as a basis of all relationships’ on the occasion. She also elaborated on the uniqueness of release of bookmarks and their role in inculcating the habit of reading. She recollected the golden era of pen pals on the occasion.
Shri. R.K. Jayabhaye, Postmaster General, Goa Region, Panaji and Shri Amitabh Singh, Postmaster General (mail management) appreciated the role played by the post-crossing community in promoting peace in the world.
Goa Postal Division also organised Goa’s 04th Postcrossing Meetup at Tapal Bhavan where 15 philatelists participated in Postcrossing event to send postcards and receive postcards back from random people around the world.
