In order to celebrate 50 Years of glorious Victory of Indian Army in 1971 Indo-Pak War, a Nation wide celebration began on 16 Dec 2020 with PM Narendra Modi setting out four Victory Flames in four cardinal directions. A grand welcome was given by the Military and Citizens of Pune to the Flame on 01 October 2021. As part of the ongoing month long Swarnim Vijay Varsh Celebration events in Pune, the Victory Flame was today taken to Salunkhe Vihar. A large number of veterans and 1971 Indo-Pak War heroes residing in Salunkhe Vihar attended the function. The Flame was received by Lt Gen (Retired) Pandit BT, PVSM Vir Chakra, Col (Retired) Salunkhe S Balwant Vir Chakra and Mrs Harolikar Arun wife of Brig (Retired) Harolikar Arun. The event was attended by Several Veterans, Veer Naris and Serving Military Officers. The flame was carried by all eminent serving and retired military personalities as mark of respect.
Station Commander alongwith other serving and Retired Army personals, Veterans and civilians Dignitaries witnessed the ceremony. The flame was relayed in the residential area before hosting it at Community Hall where a cultural program was organised by the residents. The enthusiasm for hosting the Victory Flame, displayed by the residents of Salunkhe Vihar was very encouraging. Station Commander, Pune Military Station lauded the invaluable contribution of Indian Army and its Veterans during 1971 Indo-Pak War which led to the decisive victory and surrender of East Pakistani Army.
