Today, at Ellora caves, Aurangabad Circle of the Archeological Society of India (ASI) celebrated the International Day of Yoga, 2021. On this occasion, as many as 20 persons including Dr. Biri Singh, Deputy Superintending Archaeologist, and other officials and staff members of ASI took part in a 45-minute yoga demonstration session under the guidance of instructor Shri Vilas Birajdar in the morning at 7 am. This was followed by a Cultural Programme arranged by Sangeet Natak Akademi, where classical singer Smt. Sahana Banerjee and sitar player Pandit Ramdas Palsule enthralled the audience. The dignitaries present on the occasion included the Director of India Tourism – Aurangabad Office, Shri Ram and some tourists.
The Union Culture Ministry is celebrating International Day of Yoga – 2021 at 75 places in the country under the campaign “Azadi ka AmritMahotsav- Yoga an Indian Heritage” linking the celebration of 75 years of India’s Independence. Out of these places four sites in Maharashtra have been selected for the campaign namely Kanheri Caves, Mumbai; Aga Khan Palace, Pune; Old High Court Building, Nagpur and the World Heritage site Ellora caves, Aurangabad. All these four sites are centrally protected monuments of National Importance under Archaeological Survey of India (ASI).
