UP Extends Reach of Police Number 100

Uttar Pradesh government has approved police control call centre Dial-100 service to  the entire state. It was operating in select cities till now.

In December 2014, UP government had constituted a high-powered committee headed by Venkat Changavalli for implemation of Dial-100 across the state.

Ernst and Young has been appointed as the consultant for the project which will be a part of the police emergency response management system (PERMS) call center.

UP government has already cleared Rs. 33.55 crore for procurement of eight acres of land from Lucknow Develoment Authority (LDA) for the co-ordination center, at the state capital.

The government had appointed the Public Works Department (PWD) as the nodal agency for the construction of the building which will house the co-ordination center and has already sanctioned Rs. 67.48 crore for the purpose, of which Rs. 26.99 crore has already been released in the current financial year.

Co-ordination Center will have 300 communication officers to receive distress calls from all over the state and 200 dispatch officers to rush timely police help.
