VAMNICOM Joins Hands with GCMMF for ‘The Clean Fuel Rally’ in Pune

The Vaikunth Mehta National Institute of Cooperative Management (VAMNICOM), Pune celebrated the spirit of cooperation by partnering with the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF) and Bajaj Auto for ‘The Clean Fuel Rally’.

As a part of the 71st All India Cooperative Week, this initiative is aligned with this year’s theme, ‘Cooperatives for a Sustainable and Self-reliant India’, emphasizes the critical role of cooperatives in fostering economic empowerment and environmental sustainability. The event also marked VAMNICOM’s commitment to green energy and sustainable development.

Dr. Hema Yadav, Director of VAMNICOM, facilitated the event and inspired the participants to champion sustainability and innovation in their missions. Students from the 31st and 32nd batches of the PGDM-ABM programme actively engaged with the event, demonstrating their support for cooperative and sustainable initiatives. The rally started on 15th November, 2024 from the Bajaj Auto Plant, Pune and proceeded to AMUL’s plant in Khed and reached its first leg at VAMNICOM Campus on 15th November, 2024 at 6.30 PM.

The rally was flagged off by Dr Hema Yadav, Director, VAMNICOM in presences of Mr Atul Suru, Pune Zonal Incharge, GCMMF & his team, Prof. R K Menon, Dr D Ravi & Dr Amit Borker – Faculty members of VAMNICOM, Staff and Students from the 31st and 32nd batches of the PGDM-ABM programme.

The nine-day rally, supported by Bajaj Auto, features the world’s first CNG-powered motorcycle, the Bajaj Freedom 125. Designed to promote clean fuel, the bike is equipped with a 2 kg CNG tank and a 2-liter petrol tank, enabling users to switch between fuels, emphasizing its efficiency and eco-friendliness.

Covering a distance of 1,678 kilometers, the rally traverses Pune, Mumbai, Surat, Anand, Palanpur, Udaipur, Ajmer, Jaipur, and Delhi, promoting green energy and sustainable development along the way.

Honoring the Legacy of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the rally culminates on National Milk Day, November 26, 2024, at Delhi. This day commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Verghese Kurien, the “Father of the White Revolution,” for his monumental contribution to transforming India into the largest producer of milk and his pioneering work with AMUL and Operation Flood.

Organized in partnership with Bajaj Auto, the event underscores the importance of clean energy and celebrates cooperative values while honoring Dr. Kurien’s legacy.
