Venus Williams of USA win her 47th WTA career title Wuhan Open in China, beating Wimbledon runner-up Garbine Muguruza of Spain.
Williams will climb from 24th to 14th after capturing her first WTA title since Auckland in January and her first Premier-5 level event since Dubai in five years.
Currently ranked eighth in the world, Muguruza is projected to rise to a career-best fifth when the new rankings will be released.
The 2015 Wuhan Open (also known as 2015 Dongfeng Motor Wuhan Open) was a women’s tennis tournament played on outdoor hard courts between September 27 and October 3, 2015. It was part of the WTA Premier 5 tournaments of the 2015 WTA Tour.
The 2015 tournament was the 2nd edition of the Wuhan Open. The tournament held at the Optics Valley International Tennis Center in Wuhan, China.
Wuhan, the capital of Hubei province and the most populous city in Central China, is the hometown of two-time Grand Slam champion Li Na.
