In a major boost for women entrepreneurs, Telangana government is setting up an exclusive industrial park for women.
Considered to be the first such initiative exclusively aimed at backing women entrepreneurs, particularly in the micro, small, medium enterprises (MSMEs), the industrial park will come up on a 50-acre site in Sultanpur, close to the Outer Ring Road in Medak district.
The Telangana State Industrial and Infrastructure Corporation Ltd has been allotted the land at Rs. 45 lakh per acre while assuring allotment of more land, depending upon the response and future requirements of women entrepreneurs.
The FLO TSIIC Women Entrepreneur Industrial Park has already received interest from a number of entrepreneurs in the areas of food processing, apparel and hosiery, supply chain, lifestyle products, solar energy components and LED light firms and furniture units.
The park is expected to get benefits extended by the MSME Ministry in terms of funding for infrastructure development. This will be in addition to the infrastructure support to be provided by the state infrastructure corporation.
The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industries (FICCI), one of the oldest industry and trade bodies, expects these exclusive women’s entrepreneurial parks will provide a boost to women to set up their own businesses. The FLO will collaborate with various state governments to encourage setting up of similar parks for industries.
