#TheWorldOfFilms, November 5, 2022

Are you on a mission to change the world, to make a positive difference in the lives of others, through the power of the media, through the crucial role journalism plays in society? Yes, if you are a journalist – whether from the print media, electronic media, digital media, either working in a media organization or practising as a freelancer – we have a question for you.

What are your plans during the latter half of this month? Especially during November 20 – 28?

Well, why should we care, one may think. Are we asking you out or what? Well, we are asking you in, in fact. Yes, how can we not, with IFFI opening on 20th November and closing on the 28th?

Yes, we can see that the idea of IFFI is to celebrate films, the stories they tell and the people behind them. By doing so, we seek to nurture, promote and spread the enlightened appreciation and ardent love for films – far, wide and deep; to build bridges of love, understanding and fraternity among peoples; and to inspire them to scale new peaks of individual and collective excellence.

Evidently, all of the foundational missions of IFFI or any film festival for that matter are fundamentally communicative functions – purposes which involve and depend on effective communication for their fulfilment. Needful to say, all this becomes all the more important for IFFI – which is not just a film festival, but a flagship international film festival and event conducted by the Government of the world’s largest democracy.

Well, why say all this now? Do we hear you saying, “come to the point, will you”? To be fair, the main point – even if it should be boring and pedantic – has been said already. But yes, we do have one more point to add.

Media Registration Window to Remain Open

If you have been following us, you may recall that we PIB had announced the opening of media registration for IFFI 53 a month ago. We had said that journalists desirous of attending IFFI in Goa are required to submit their application online by 11:59:59 PM (Indian Standard Time) of 5 November, 2022, i.e., today.

Well, we would like to hereby announce that the media registration for IFFI 53 will not close tonight, but would rather remain open till the 53rd edition closes. In other words, to be more precise, media can register for the festival anytime till 11.59.59 PM of November 28, 2022, the closing day of the festival.

The decision to extend the media registration deadline, or rather to keep it open till the festival closes, has been taken by the HOD and Principal Director General, PIB, during a review meeting he held in Goa last week.

How to Register

You can be a media delegate if you have completed 21 years of age as on 1st January, 2022 and belong to Print, Electronic, or even a Digital / Online Media organisation. You are also welcome if you are blazing your own path as a freelance journalist, provided you fulfil the age criterion. You may register online, at this link: https://my.iffigoa.org/extranet/media/

The process is fairly simple, but in case you have some doubts, guidelines mentioned in the link should come to your aid. If your doubts persist, then feel free to reach out to us at PIB, at iffi-pib[at]nic[dot]in, or call us (between 10 AM  and 6 PM IST, on all working days) at +91-832-2956418.

Who Should Register

Should you register only if you are interested in films? Only if you are covering film and entertainment sector? We would encourage you to think again. Aren’t films universal? Don’t they touch and encompass every sphere of our life and society? Which beat or sector is not related with or relevant to films and the celebration of films which the IFFI stands for, promotes and inspires? But yes, if you are a freelance media professional, we would require that you show us your recent journalistic contribution in the fields of film, entertainment or culture.

So, calling all media professionals and professional journalists to do drop down to the beach state of Goa. Let the waves of Arabian Sea waters be humbled by the much more resplendent waves of cinematic inspiration which are sure to not only wash but also light up afresh your mind, body, heart and soul, thanks to the timeless celebration of cinema we partake in.

A Word for Non-Journalists

Ok, so you are not a journalist. Even then, if you have read this far, even if by accident, we appeal to you too to not only spread the word about IFFI, to not only partake in the celebration, but to also thereby inspire others to join the celebration of cinema, and to fall in love with films, with life and with fellow human beings, all over again.

See you in Goa! Or rather, see the IFFI in you in Goa!
