Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana: Main Components

Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) was launched during the year 2015-16, with an aim to enhance physical access of water on farm and expand cultivable area under assured irrigation, improve on farm water use efficiency, introduce sustainable water conservation practices, etc.

It comprises of various components such as Accelerated Irrigation Benefits Programme (AIBP), Har Khet Ko Pani (HKKP), Per Drop More Crop and Watershed development.

State level planning and execution of the scheme is carried out on the basis of District Irrigation Plans (DIPs) and State Irrigation Plans (SIPs).

Under PMKSY-AIBP, ninety nine (99) ongoing irrigation projects along with their Command Area Development & Water Management (CADWM) works have been identified in consultation with the States for completion in phases up to December, 2019.

For completion of these projects in a mission mode, funding mechanism through NABARD has been approved by the Government for both central and state share.
