Jaago Grahak – A consumer awareness programme:

Time of Telecast: 7:30 pm on Mondays, w.e.f. 02/10/2023

Repeat telecasts: 2:30 pm on Tuesdays and

10:00 am on Wednesdays

On the occasion of 51st anniversary of Doordarshan, on 2nd October, Mumbai Doordarshan is coming out with a few interesting programmes for its viewers.

One such programme is a weekly Marathi Programme “Jago Grahak” which will be telecast every Monday from 2nd October onwards.

Consumer is supposed to be a King of the market economy. However, at every stage in marketplace he is often cheated, fleeced and exploited. Online shopping and online banking has further increased the incidents of cheating and fleecing the consumer through various fraudulent and deceptive practices. One of the reasons for this is consumers’ ignorance about their own rights and lack of awareness about various consumer laws.

Government has enacted a revised Consumer Protection Act for protection of consumers, RERA Act for protecting homebuyers, Mediation Act to give speedy alternative dispute resolution mechanism for litigants. Unfortunately, consumers are blissfully unaware of these consumer laws and consumer rights. When problems arise, very often literate and even highly educated consumers are not aware of where to complain, how to complain, how to get their grievance redressed. To overcome this sorry state of affairs, Doordarshan will be telecasting a weekly Programme “Jago Grahak” in collaboration with Mumbai Grahak Panchayat (MGP), a leading consumer organization to create wide-spread awareness among consumers. The programme to be telecast every Monday 7:30 pm will feature some aggrieved consumers narrating their woes or how they fought successful battles, which will be followed by illuminating discussion with senior leaders from consumer movement and experts from various fields.

This programme wil be anchored by Ms Rashmi Amdekar under the able guidance of Adv. Shirish Deshpande, Chairman of Mumbai Grahak Panchayat. The concept is developed by Sandeep Sood, Head of the Programmes, DD-Sahyadri and produced and directed by Sh Bharat Harankhure.

Goshti Ganyanchya – a Programme focusing on the creation of a song with participation of renowned lyricists and music composers:

Time of Telecast: 7:30 pm on Thursdays and Fridays, w.e.f. 12/10/2023 & 13/10/2023

Repeat telecasts: 1:30 – 3:30 pm on Saturdays and

10:00 – 12:00 midnight on Saturdays

In the state of Maharashtra, there is a rich tradition of music. Many lyricists, composers, and singers have enriched this tradition. The process of creating music, from composing a piece to bringing it to life, involves a lot of effort and various experiences coming together. Some remarkable stories about the creation of songs will be unveiled in a new program called “Goshti Gaanyanchya.”

You will get to experience the cinematic journeys of well-known lyricists, composers and singers who work in the field of music as well as the stories behind the songs. This program will reveal how songs are created, and it will telecast every Thursday and Friday evenings at 7:30 PM on Doordarshan’s Sahyadri Channel.

This program will commence from 12 October 2023 every Thursday and Friday at 7:30 PM on your popular DD-Sahyadri Channel.

The idea of this programme has been conceived by Sandeep Sood Program Head of Doordarshan and with script and narration by Uttara Mone. The production and direction has been accomplished by seasoned broadcaster Sh Niranjan Pathak.

Katha Saichi – a Programme focusing on the cinematic journey of renowned writer and film maker Ms Sai Paranjpe:

A Science Programme – a Programme focusing on use of science in our day-to-day life.

Time of Telecast: 7:30 pm on Saturdays

Repeat telecasts: 1:30 on Sundays and 10:30 am on Tuesdays

Mumbai Doordarshan brings your way a wonders of science, which should become a way of life.

There is a science in our day to day life. Our kitchen is actually a lab where everyday a homemaker woman does number of experiments. But unaware of its value.

We shall bring these small things of scientific value in this series which will make you look at things in a logical and rational way and is meant for viewers of all ages.

There will be experiments.

There will be interviews with scientists.

There will be science plays and host of such things.

No other channel but Doordarshan can think of such unusual projects of human interests.

The 57 years’ old मराठी विज्ञान परिषद will be with Doordarshan in this scientific journey.
