Karnataka State Cabinet approved a suburban railway project which will be implemented in two phases.
Main objective is to decongest road traffic in and around Bengaluru and provide rail link to towns around the city.
In two phases, the rail link would be provided between Bengaluru-Mandya, Yeshwanthpur-Tumakuru, Yeshwanthpur-Yelahanka, Yelahanka-Byappanahalli, Yelahanka-Doddaballapur, Yelahanka-Chickballapur, Byappanahalli-Hosur, Bengaluru-Bangarpet, Sondevanahalli-Kunigal.
The estimated cost of the two-phase project is Rs. 10,929 crore.
