Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai seized around 17,703 boxes of fake c-Flux cored wire for violating Quality Control Order. BIS Mumbai Branch Office – II conducted an Enforcement Search and Seizure operation at Bhiwandi, Thane to check the violation of Quality Control Order on “Flux Cored (Tubular) Electrodes for Gas Shielded and Self-Shielded Metal Welding of Carbon or Carbon-Manganese Steel” as per IS 15769, on 23rd February 2022.
During the raid M/s. Ador Welding Limited (C/o Kerry Indev Logistics Private Limited, Building No- A4, Global Complex, Survey no 25, Hissa No 7, 10/1, 10/2, Grampanchayat – Kukse, Bhiwandi-421302, Thane) was found violating the Quality Control Order S.O. 1203(E) dated 12.03.2021. About 17,703 number of boxes (each box containing 01 piece) of c- Flux cored wire, 1.2 mm were seized per IS 15769. Action is being initiated to file a case in the court of law for the offence. The team of officials include Scientist-C, Nishikant Singh and Scientist-C, Ashish Wakle from Mumbai Branch Office – II.
The misuse of BIS Standard Mark is punishable with imprisonment up to two years or a fine of minimum Rs. 2,00,000 or both as per BIS Act 2016. It has been observed many times fake ISI marked products are manufactured and sold to consumers for huge profit. Therefore, all are requested to ascertain the genuineness of ISI Mark on the product before making purchase, by visiting BIS website http://www.bis.gov.in
Citizens are requested that in case they come across any instance of misuse of ISI Mark on any product, the same may be informed to the Head, MUBO-II, Western Regional Office, BIS, Manakalaya, E9, Behind Marol Telephone Exchange, Andheri (East), Mumbai – 400 093.
