azadi ka amrit mahotsav

: Mumbai/New Delhi, August 1, 2023

The details of the number of houses constructed under the Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G) during each of the last four years and present year (2019-20 to 2023-24 as of 27.07.2023) in the country, State-wise including Maharashtra, Rajasthan, and North-eastern States are given in Annexure-I.

The State/District-wise details of houses constructed under PMAY-G can be seen at the programme website at www.pmayg.nic.in—>AwaasSoft—>Reports—>Houses completed in a financial year irrespective of the target year.

The cumulative number and details of the houses allocated, sanctioned, completed and houses presently under construction under PMAY-G, State-wise including in Latur district and Madha Lok Sabha constituency of Maharashtra, Jalore and Sirohi districts of Rajasthan, Chatra district of Jharkhand and the North-eastern States is given in Annexure-II.

The Ministry allocates the targets to the State/UT as a whole and district-wise targets are fixed by the State/UT. The District-wise details of houses sanctioned & completed under PMAY-G against targets allocated in a Financial Year can be seen at the programme website at www.pmayg.nic.in—>AwaasSoft–>Reports–>Houses progress against the target financial year.

Central Assistance under PMAY-G is released directly to the State/Union Territory (UT) considering the State/UT as a unit. Further release of these funds to beneficiaries is done by the respective State/UT Governments. The district-level data related to funds released & utilised Financial Year wise can be seen at the programme website at www.pmayg.nic.in–>AwaasSoft–>Reports–> High level financial progress report. The State/UT-wise details of funds utilized (including State Share) since inception i.e. 01.04.2016 under PMAY-G is given in Annexure-III.

The deadline for completion of 2.95 crore houses under PMAY-G is 31st March, 2024.

During the period of the Covid-19 pandemic-induced nationwide lockdown, all construction activities including the construction of houses under PMAY-G were affected which retarded the pace of construction of PMAY-G houses. Besides, the delays are also due to delays in the release of Central & State Share from the State Treasury to the State Nodal Account of PMAY-G, cases of unwillingness of beneficiaries, migration, disputed succession of deceased beneficiaries, delay in allotment of land to landless beneficiaries by the States/UTs, at times General/ Assembly/ Panchayat elections, and unavailability of building materials.

To ensure the timely achievement of the target, the Ministry is taking the following initiatives on a regular basis:

  1. Review of progress at the level of Ministry.
  2. Launch of PMAY-G analytic dashboard for monitoring and supervision of the scheme.
  3. Timely allocation of targets to the States/UTs and release of adequate funds.
  4. Follow-ups with the State to ensure the release of central and state share of funds and provision of land to landless beneficiaries in rural areas.
  5. Awards to the best performing States/UTs, Districts based on the performance index dashboard, thereby creating healthy competition and motivation among the States/UTs for achieving the set targets.
