India’s First Paragliding World Cup Starts

The Paragliding World Cup begin on 23 Oct at Bir Billing near Baijnath town in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh.

This is for the first time that this event is being organised in a South Asian country. Union Civil Aviation Minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju flagged off the event.

Snow leopard will be the mascot of this World Cup.

More than 130 registered pilots including 14 women pilots from thirty five countries would take part in this one week competition.

The different categories of this competition are Paragliding, Hand gliding, Hot air ballooning, and Acrobatic shows.

To meet any emergent situation forty rescue teams equipped with latest equipment would be deployed at various strategic locations besides helicopters and Air ambulance.
