The largest tricolour flag in the country has been been inaugurated at the Indo-Pak Attari border.
The flag measured 110 metres (360-foot) in length, 24 metres in width and weighing 55 tonnes.
The flag post, which stands 110 metres tall, now outflanks the 91.44 metres (300-foot) high tricolour in Ranchi which was till now considered the tallest in the country.
The flag mast, which has been installed just 150 metres away from the border, became an attraction for the thousands of tourists who had reached there to watch the Beating Retreat Ceremony at sunset.
Built at an approximate cost of Rs 3.50 crore, it was a project of the Amritsar Improvement Trust Authority of the Punjab government.
