Muslim Outreach Programme Launched

The Central government has launched its Muslim outreach programme.

The launch of the outreach programme from this Muslim- dominated area comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that Muslims should be treated as “own” and should be empowered.

NDA government kicks off its programme – Progresssive Panchayats – from Haryana’s Mewat region.

The outreach programme is aimed at removing misconceptions about BJP among the minority community which will be spearheaded by union minority affairs minister, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi.

Low literacy and high poverty levels have been proportionate to high fertility rate across major parts of the country. The government now plans to eradicate illiteracy by creating infrastructure that supports education and provides employment for the youth.

It has released Rs 6,500 crore under the 12th Finance Commission for states to implement Multi-sectoral Development Programme (MsDP).

These steps will not just go a long way in improving the conditions of backward areas dominated by Muslims (14% of total population), but also provide healing touch by the government.

The objective of the ‘Progress Panchayat’ is to reach out to the minority community and apprise them of the development initiatives taken by the government.
